Default City of Hope on grape seed extract

After watching 60 minutes segment on the outrageous cost of cancer drugs, thought I'd post this from City of Hope. The MAIN reason I started on Pycnogenol in 1995 and a year later went with grape seed extract, we were told at the lecture, "P" may prevent cancer.

Thanks for that Caroline - it looks like interesting and potentially important work to me.

Your link does not work for me but this one does;

Thanks kiwi, don't know why some links open and some don't when I post ...

I know that other research centers from Mayo and Univ of Maryland, and Sloan Kettering also do this research, and probably others I don't know about as I haven't searched them all. Good on the estrogen issue too, as I take DHEA for many years, not as long as grape seed ex and do not get mamms. Had 2 in my early 50's and that's been it.

I've shared my thoughts and this latest info re: city of hope with other health minded friends and here are comments from one friend:

((I swear by Pycnogenol and grape seed since the mid '90's also. In about 3 weeks those two together took away sciatica pain I had had for almost 2 years. I'm glad to hear grape seed extract is also useful for cancer prevention. I don't know how it reduces estrogen though, as mentioned in the City of Hope article. I'd like to know the details.

I've read that estrogen accumulates in all of us apparently these days, if not from excess supplements, then from toxins like those in plastic bottles, and from foods such as soy products. I've run across a couple of articles that explain some things you can do to help your body successfully get rid of this unwanted estrogen load because if you don't eat right, the estrogens just accumulate, increasing cancer risk. ))

SO MUCH today is plastic laden and these are all going into our bodies and accumulating..these OPC's help to reduce and eliminate free radicals...those rascal radicals are the plastics too, probably too too much.

I'm old and thinking back to my early life, it was glass, so much was in glass containers...now it's so so much plastic, the plastic revolution...some revolution. Positive and negatives as I see it all. The World has changed dramatically.

I keep finding more info on grape seed ex and now on the kidneys and from City of Hope:

http://www.sooperarticles.com/health...ys-741703.html

Since I do take some pain meds: ibuprofen and Pain RX herbal, another health support person was giving me warning about kidneys. Well, this is good news and my kidneys are good I believe, 20 yrs of grape seed ex. This person was "pushing" for back surgery and I won't go there.
