Default Hyaluronic Acid Capsules for Osteoarthritis

Hi. I have osteoarthritis in my hip and spine and came across some information about taking Hyaluronic Acid Capsules. I was interested to see if any of you have tried this or even heard about it. On another forum I visit it was mentioned with a good review. Thanks for any information you can share.

I think that trying the new highly absorbant curcumin may be better.

The new CurcuBrain (with the LongVida product) by NOW is affordable on Amazon. LongVida was very expensive at one time and used in many studies..but now they are selling to other makers and lowering the price.

I am finding just one 400mg capsule a day very useful.

SAMe can also be good, but it takes some time to work.

Hi, I have taken HA capsules off and on for years...Not taking it now. I've had the HA knee injection series twice and they did nothing for me. The consultants at the homeopathic pharmacy here, they sell everything, are forever wanting me to "try" Baxyl HA. It's liquid and a 6 oz bottle is $40. I have not not done it YET, but maybe I'm missing some relief. There are reviews all over the net on Baxyl and all the online supp companies sell it, including amazon. Maybe I oughta give it a good trial.

The only way you'll find out For You is to give it a trial...everyone's joints are different, some worse than others. So you never know until you try. Can't hurt. If you try any HA product give it a couple months at least. C

Look at NeoCell Hylauronic Blueberry Acid Liquid...looks good and a little less $$ than Baxyl, Going to get this one for a good trial, it's been a good while since I've taken any HA.

Hi pinkynose

Before trying oral hyaluronic acid I would be inclined to see if there is any evidence that it can cross the gut wall and enter the bloodstream (I can't find any).

The point is that hyaluronic acid is negatively charged and so would need to be transported across the gut wall - unless this is known to happen then oral hyaluronic acid is not likely to help with your osteoarthritis.

Thanks MrsD. I take CuraMed now by Terry Naturally and it's too expensive. I just looked up CurcuBrain and it is much more affordable. I will try it.

I was surprised recently to see LongVida licensing out their product to other companies. I guess the demand for it now is high so they can afford to lower the price. When LongVida was selling it themselves it was over $70 for a month's supply.

I use the CurcuBrain and my SAMe (400mg a day) and see improvements.
The curcumin still upsets my GI issues some, so I don't do it every day. More like 3 x a week.

I've used SAMe for over 10 yrs now. I stopped for a while thinking I was "home free" but that was not the case. Looks like SAMe is going to be a lifetime thing for me. But I did avoid the knee replacement that was offered to me my the orthopedist.
