Default Update on Omega 3's & 61 Benefits

Hi all, Ok I had been conflicted on Omega 3's and how much to take etc..so over the last year I've been consistent with daily 3 softgels of Jarrow Max DHA. DHA 500, EPA 100, Total Fish Oil 1200mg. I'm taking the higher DHA for my brain health. The bottle reads 2 softgels per day and I know supplement companies NEED to be conservative in their dosing. So if we think about these doses, we need to reach out further for info. And even call the product companies and talk to their product specialists. Many can be so helpful. I have talked often to Now Foods specialists too.

Today, I called Jarrow as I talk to them often with questions about some of the supplements I take and I feel very comfortable with their explanation on doses etc. And any harm etc. I've wondered about taking more than the 3 I take daily mainly because of my joint issues.

I was told today, 4 would be OK to take, even as high as 8 if I wanted to go that high. The consultant said all these antioxidants help to keep our blood thin and we all know we don't want thick sticky blood. Enough people have that and deal with heart issues and take many heart medications due to thick blood.

So for now I'm going to go to 4 softgels daily and then MAYBE will go to 6 per day down the short road from now.

I have a good friend who said she had a hard time taking Omega 3's so she didn't take them. I don't know why she had a hard time but claimed she would get back pain. I don't know, could have been other reasons but maybe just her body. So listening to her I backed off Omega 3's for a long while. Then I started to research again as there is so much info on the value of Omega 3's. BTW: Omega 6's give us more inflammation.

This friend sadly had a heart issue a couple months ago and ended up in the hospital for 5 days and came home with about 6 heart drugs. Turned out after much testing her blood viscosity was quite thick. Hence now the drugs for getting blood thinned. Sounds like a lesson here as I hear her and realizing the value of Omega 3's. She;s very fearful and now thinking of ablation for the heart. My thinking is Omega 3's. But she is listening to the doctors and I'm not her doctor, for sure, and don't give my thoughts on this.

I also do believe magnesium is critical also for cardio support. She wasn't taking much at all and I did mention this to her and I believe she's now taking magnesium.

Anyway, here is a very good link on the 61 Benefits of Omega 3's. So much help and support and for depression too.

To continued healing. C

News Flash: I think NOW I've been taking the incorrect type of Omega 3's recently with the Jarrow Max DHA....the high DHA is needed for developing brains and pregnant women need to be taking more DHA. I knew that, but thought DHA was important with aging brains. Not so much..but a good balance of more EPA vs DHA I'm finding after my gf and I were doing more research. So my new Omega 3's are going to be Wiley's Alaskan FO with higher EPA vs DHA. Here is a summary of the two as related to different times in our lives:

Sorry for any confusion, I find it confusing too when one digs into it all. Hope I have a better "answer" on the type of Omega 3's.
