Default Licorice Root

Is anyone familiar with this or have used it?

As some of you may know I have COPD and I cannot tolerate many of the meds anymore. I read that licorice is a bronchodilator so bought some Australian candy which has real licorice as an ingredient (US made does not that I am aware of) and it really did work. Not sure how long it would continue to be effective but my concern is all of the precautions concerning potassium depletion and cardiac arrhythmias. I have had some issues with that in the past but don't know if the licorice would be any worse than the med it replaces which also depletes it. The FDA even cautions that more than 1oz every day for 20 days is too much for a woman.

Any ideas welcome because I know nothing. I know there are other herbs like Mullen used for lungs but I don't need what they do.

Thanks

Licorice can elevate blood pressure. I wouldn't try to use it from a candy source. You can check into iherb on line and vitacost etc and look at the reviews. I was using DGL for digestive issues and just keeping me in better health but got off it as I was in rehabs for knee issue for almost 5 months. DGL is deglycerrized licorice. Does not mess with BP.

Research grape seed extract and COPD.
