Has anyone else noticed having very strange/vivid dreams when taking lots of B vitamins? I would never have connected the dreams to the vits except I read it on another web site.
These dreams are just before I wake up. Not scary or awful, just seem to have little connection to my real life! At least I sleep OK & for that I'm very grateful Buttons |

Many report dreams on Bcomplex. The condition pyroluria, which is a loss of B6 and zinc
from the body due to an error of metabolism in the liver...causes loss of dreaming. I think the B6 is elemental for this. Increasing your B6 status will help with dreams. Another thing that causes vivid dreaming is inositol.. I found that a very strong correlation. (inositol used to be lumped together with B's...so check your formula and see if it is in there). If it is, then it could be contributing to more dreaming for you.

I was taking the sublingual b12 .Not sure if i spelled that right.
Anyway i noticed i had very vivid dreams as well.I did'nt tell my sister about them. She was outta energy and having pains in her legs all the time{we worked together}anyway..She noticed improvement in her overall well being. I had a hard time getting her to take a vitamin fro mthe drugstore before. So thats why i did'nt tell her about the dreams. So not long after starting them sub b12.She asks me if i had been having weird dreams.I of course asked why first..LOL Then she told me she had very real like dreams. That hers were actually scary. So when i told her,yes i had,she stopped taking the vits. I hope if i tell her what i read here maybe i could get her to go back on them. I worry about her all the time... ~Kell~

--many of which I still recall many years later, but I too have noticed that this effect has been enhanced over the 3-plus years now I've been taking large amounts of B-vitamins and other supplements.
The dreams are not normally scary, but they often seem to mix and match disparate elements from my life that would normally be juxtaposed. With that has come heightened awareness that I am actually in a dream; I have that revelatory "oh come on, this is not possible" moment that tips one off, no matter how consistent the internal logic of the dream may be. (I'm getting to rather enjoy it--sometimes one can be very creative in one's dreams.) |

I find many of my "lucid" or vivid dreams much more satisfying than
even TV... When we go on vacation to a quiet, remote place..I have even more vivid dreams. The relaxation, lack of noise/city crap... enhance them even further. But I do wonder about people who don't remember their dreams. Wonder if they are having B6 problems. Our ancestors, relied on dreams to survive, and succeed in the hunt, and overcome physical challenges. Much of our heritage and history revolve around dreams. Our mythology as well. Dreams are our creative selves. Not to be feared, but embraced. Those who do NOT dream creatively... should look into this lack. Those who do dream creatively, are, I think, doing the human work we evolved to do.

This would be my guess: the vitamin b complex increase brain power so It would only be natural that you would dream more.
Just what I think.... xena |
