Default Looking For Safe Raw Diet!

I am looking for a raw diet that I can follow (daily meal plans). I was considering just going, "Hey, raw is raw" and trying that. However, I don't want to exclude anything that may be beneficial to me. I also do not want to risk losing weight, this is important to me. My partner, however, needs to lose weight - so a flex-diet of sorts where I can change a few things to compliment each of our needs would be great.

I can't find any books that seem to focus strictly on this. I am hoping to do this to accomplish a stronger immune system as well as improve both of our health. I don't know how overweight he is, although it was mentioned he's close to being diabetic. I'd like to maintain my weight or even gain a few pounds. Right now, if I don't overeat (3 meals and I snack every hour), I will lose weight. I don't know why, doctors don't know why but I've always been this way. Needless to say, I'm sick of eating so much. I tried ensure but I don't want to overload on all of it's contents as it has a lot of 'stuff' in it.

I'm willing (more than willing) to bend the rules and incorporate some cooked food. I've just heard a lot of good things about this raw diet and what it does for your body. I'd imagine once I finish (if ever) all of my medications, I will need to follow some detox diet first, as I can tell my body is really PO'd about all of the pills.

Anyway, I'm open to book suggestions or well known diets. I prefer to stray from "Fad Diets" (ie: Mayo Clinic Diet) and stick with something proven to do something good.

I'm open to any suggestions and prefer it not be some super expensive diet that requires I order bizarre herbs from another country.

Thanks in advance if you know of anything. Books I can order online would be best as getting out of the house these days is somewhat complicated.

Lightbulb there are alot of Google hits for raw diet...

Try "raw diet safety"... to begin with.

Over the long haul I'd worry about B12, and zinc. And the amino acids tryptophan and methionine. Over the short haul, that should not be a problem.
However, I do read and find warnings about cleaning food really well.

Keep us up to date with what happens. I am curious.

I decided to try all of these books (the weight loss is for him). I went for the two Ph books after watching the Crazy Sexy Cancer film and seeing the drastic blood cell changes after she had been on his diet. Seeing the proof was enough for me. I will update how this goes. I will probably take my stack of books to a nutritionist and see if I can somehow squish everything into one diet of my own!

Here's what I got, which should be here by the 22nd.

# 1 of: The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods
Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC
# 1 of: Food to Live By: The Earthbound Farm Organic Cookbook (Earthbound Farm Organic Cookbk)
Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC
# 1 of: Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips
Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC
# 1 of: The pH Miracle for Weight Loss: Balance Your Body Chemistry, Achieve Your Ideal Weight
Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC
# 1 of: The Whole Foods Market Cookbook
Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC
# 1 of: The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health

(Sorry for format, I copy/pasted my order because I'm lazy)

Hi. I have a friend who does raw food for her exema. She has found it super helpful. I know it took her awhile to adjust and if not done properly can have very negative effects because of lack of nutrients. Are you a vegetarian or vegan now? If not do you think maybe a transition would be better? Anyhow I think that a nutritionist even if to get you started would be super important. I see one and have been underweight as well. Now to maintain a healthy weight I still have to eat a lot. Having my nutritionist make sure I meet those needs is key. Right now I'm working on eating healthier though. I really encourage you finding one that specializes though in what your looking for such as raw. Good luck and can you keep us updated. I'm interested in how you feel.

Default CHIP USA lifestyle change...

Has been a godsend to you husband health and has thousands of others.
All by eating foods as grown...non processed.
This diet reverses Diabetis and coronary heart issues as well as numerous other diseases...especially auto immune diseases.
We've been attending these "classes" and are amazed by all we've learned.
The China Study is the most eye opening book regarding the foods we've been eating on the SAD diet (standard American diet)
Dr McDougal talks about how medication does NOT cure ANY disease and is cuase of many deaths.
He's not very well liked amonst the medical community because of his radical veiws he refuses to keep quiet about.
John Hopkins Univ Hosp implemented this diet for those who had failed bypass and stints for cardiac problems...the diet has kept 49 of the 50 subject alive, healthy 5 years with no sign of cardiac problems...the one who died failed to stay "faithful" to the diet.
Kaiser Permanante Hospital is also implementing this diet as alternative to bypass and stints.
My husband opted for this "diet" rather than stints...its changed his life and he no longer has chest pains.
There are many others just like him.
Bypass and Stints are only a very usafe mask that usually only lost few years.
We CAN reverse disease with a knife and fork...but it takes loads of self control!...wow!
My husband eats like a horse and has lots loads of weight.
It also "beefed up" his immune system....he had another mouth cancer, needing to be removed...by the time he went to see him cancer specialist, it disappeared...was gone! ..His immunse system went after it!
He's had over 20+ of these, always were resected, and dealth with...but not this time! Wow!
These programs are being held all across America open to the public for minimul cost.
Here's a link.

I would be interested in this as well. And I don't know about humans but just wanted to say...

My Vet has several posters in his office about pets and raw diets...a warning! I wish I could remember everything it said...but basically...unsafe. But again, this was for dogs and cats and not humans. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread...just wanted to mention it in the way of pets.

One of my daughter's doctors follows McDougall, but my guess is that she doesn't talk much about it with her fellow physicians. She very slender, high energy, happy and healthy. I read his book "The Mcdougall Plan," many years ago. I recall that he avoided or eliminated meat, eggs and dairy. He says that flesh animals are filled with antibiotics and other concerns. He is very down on cholesterol and fat containing foods. If memory serves me correctly, he is big on eating a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts. He encourages chosing all natural foods that have plenty of calcium in them. I don't think he is big on taking supplements, although I think he is more open to taking B12. There is also a book called "The Longevity Diet," written by these folks who claim that calorie restriction helps slow the aging process. They seem to advocate largely raw foods. For what it's worth...what I have done is read several books on the subject, figure out what makes good sense to me, works with health issues, etc. and what I can live with and have incorporated many of these good and healthy things into my lifestyle. You can get creative and make up your own diet, based on what you have read. What you might do (I actually did this one time, semi based on the book Fit for Life) is eat vegetarian every other day. Make sure you eat a high percentage of vegetables every day and a certain number of fruits per day. On the days that you don't have any kind of a typical meat product (like an egg or fish, for example), prepare a vegetarian meals that is high in protein. Perhaps make two days a week "all raw food days." Make your desserts, super healthy...like sweet potato, nuts, bananas...but especially if you are prone to being underweight...you should probalby have dessert every night.
