Default Question about fish oil and other vitamins

Hi all wondered if you could help. I am 43 years old suffer from complex regional pain syndrome, basically is neuropathy. I also have psoriasis.. I am taking cymbalta, kepra, serequel. I recently started taking omega 3 fish oil, and os cal as i have bone loss with the rsd. Can anyone recommend any kind of a regimen of vitamins. I need the calcium and the vitamin d. I also hear that vitamin b 12 can help with pain and nerve damage. Any help would be appreciated. I dont know much about whats in vitamins or what brand. I have been using natures bounty.

I have pn but also what they feel may be rsd and possible fibro auto immune issues. I used to be on Cymbalta. Anyhow I am clueless about supp but have been to many docs and just saw a holistic one who had started me on some. I will share magnesium glycinate, calcium with d I have osteo, glucosamine msn, kaprex,I am suppose to take dha:epa and gla forte but right now flax seed oil pills because of my eye issue and I need to stick with one oil he said.I take vitamin c,women multi. Many here take b12 which I don't and b complex. I used to take both though but stopped just cause my levels are high though usually not a concern with b vitamins. Have you had blood work lately? That may help you establish more on supp.

Thanks for the reply. Im getting blood word hopefully this week. I also have some kind of high crp test three months ago, but am hoping its better now. I should probably see a nurtiionists as well. So you do not know if you have the rsd or not? I have had this a year now, and so far no pain meds, which is a blessing. I also have osteopenia as well. Anything you come across please share with me.

Lightbulb I suggest

you visit our RSD forum. Some posters there are trying alternative solutions.

You should have a serum Vit D run...so you know if you are very low in this like many other chronic illness sufferers. The amount in a supplement like OsCal is not high enough to take care of severe deficiency.

RSD is thought to be a calcium disorder... that calcium is involved in the nerve transmission problems. I am not that up on it to advise you.

There are posts on RSD about using antioxidants like grapeseed extract.
examples:

Using fish oil is good. The dose however to get big results tends to be high.
Using high dose fish oil, more than 3-4 grams/day, should be supervised by a doctor.

You can also have a B12 serum test and/or a MMA test, which will show you where you are with B12.
There are many posts on this forum if you search that have suggestions.

And you should consider magnesium as well. Calcium does not get into bones properly without magnesium as a helper.

So I think you should request the tests first...and go from there.

Hi. Well I went to a rsd pan specialist and all my neuro and docs think though I have pn that I have rsd or what is similar in the leg. The pain doc said to be dx I needed to have a epidural nerve block. I have seen many docs and am confused because the one before said I needed a scs and then the one before a catheter. Now I m having other issues so they think maybe fibro or auto immune and before I do random things I was a more for sure not a possible. I am extremely sensitive and if it can happen it will so I have to be careful. I have seen a nutritionist on and off for 12 years and I think they can be helpful. It is extremly important and I can not stress this enough to find one who specializes in the area you have. It is super key. Lie I said I used to have osteopenia and now dx with osteoporsis. I am 29 so young. My nom had osteo too and is on fosomax. I am not but the endo has me taking calcium with d very key the d at 600mg two times a day.
I am not an expert on supp or meds like Mrs d but I have heard from her and my last doc the importance of magnesium as well. I used to take the wrong kind but now I think I am on the right track. Also I have heard in addition to the fish oil borage oil as well. The blood work is key and you may have to ask for some of the tests like I asked for b vitamins cause of here and auto immune issues etc. If I can help in any way please let me know
