Default Wowsza Mrsd - Triglyercides + Cholesterol

This week I had my blood work done with the endocrinologist for an 8 week check-up since I started two things...

Lovaza - prescription fish oil
Metformin - insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome following 2 hour glucose/insulin test.

I also changed my diet some but I will be honest I fell off the wagon a couple times and was not consistent. Now imagine if I really put my mind to it foodwise and exercise.

Here is the before and after

Triglycerides 298 high......108 normal range

Cholesterol...273...242 (not bad drop have more to go)

HDL (good stuff) 60 (which was good) up to 71 (doc was like intersting..I told her fish oil...and that she should talk to Mrsd cuz she is one smart cookie)

LDL 153 to 149 (This is where I need to work on it) But she said the real drop in my cholesterol was the small particle VLDL but I did not write down that number.

My cholesterol ratio went from 4.6 (which was still in normal range) to 3.4.

Plus my iron #'s improved and I do feel I found the right level of metformin which the doc agreed to and it has improved my energy levels. Even the platlet counts wen to a more mid range normal.

So not bad all in all for 8 weeks! (would pat myself on back but would aggravate my neck and TOS)

Thumbs up good for you!

Metformin lowers cholesterol somewhat. I had the same result with it.

Fish oil does not do much for LDLs.
But the triglycerides respond very nicely.

It is always nice to see improvements! I know exactly how you feel!

Those numbers sound really good!
Did your platelets go up or down?
