Default Need help with vitamins and supplements

My husband had his TBI two weeks ago. Without a neurologist available for three weeks, I am trying to care for him on my own. I would appreciate some help with vitamins and supplements. Here's what we've done so far: increased fish oil from 1,000 mg/day to 3,000, increased B-12 from 500 mcg to 1,500, 90 oz of fluid/day, potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods to counteract the flushing of of nutrients due to increased fluid intake. He takes his regular multi-vitamin, l-Arginine, Lysine and Zocor- which he has been doing for several years.
I'm grateful for any recommendations. Peggy

Well, Mark usually posts on TBI forum here about supplements.

I have only a few comments...

1) make sure the B12 is used on an empty stomach.

2) I don't think supplements for OTC use of potassium are useful..at only 99mg each. Daily RDA is 4700mg of potassium from food now.

3) Zocor? This is a highly toxic statin, and is lipid soluble and enters the brain. Cholesterol is used in the brain for many of its functions, and repair. Statins in general have been found to prevent remyelination of nerve fibers. I'd discuss this with the doctor ASAP. New FDA warnings about statins, and memory loss just were published. And Zocor specifically has new warnings to physicians.
