My doctor had her thyroid removed at a teaching hospital.(cancer)
The resident removed her parathyroid glands by mistake. So now she has terrible cramping all over.

I'd get tested for disorders of the parathyroids.

You also may be low in magnesium. Magnesium is the mineral that relaxes, and calcium is the one that contracts muscle.

If you are low in magnesium you will have cramping often.

There is a poster here at our PN forum--glenntaj-- whose wife had her thyroid removed and had terrible cramping for a while.
It is called calcium "shock" and should resolve if your parathyroids are intact and not damaged.

You can search "parathyroid" using the search function and find those posts, and/or come to our PN forum and ask him, in a new post.

Disorders of the parathyroids are complex, so you may need a good endocrinologist.
