Hi Daniella,
My daughter takes melatonin occassionally when she can't sleep. He gets a sound sleep from it, with no after effects. She has no disorder like ourselves. It doesn't work for my husband.
I've written to you before, I have full body rsd 13 years. 5 weeks ago, my Dr. changed my sleep med from ambien cr, which stopped working, to seroquel low dose of 300. It is a miracle! I've been sleep a restorative sleep of 9 hours. He has just finished a study of 200 people for the pharmaceutical company. He results are amazing. It soon will be published. He is a neurologist, pharmacologist and psychiatrist. He has saved my life these past 5 years. I've been able to drop my vicodin and lorazepam in half since taking the seroquel, it's because of the restorative sleep and a calmed sympathetic nervous system. It has truly changed my life Hope this helps. Take care, loretta

I am going to look at Walmart if they have any. They have cheap vitamins there. I should of looked at WHole Foods today but can go back. Thanks
yes, 3 mg is a very HIGH dose

best to start at 1 or 2 300 MICROgm tabs a night and then go up if you need it

seroquel is a good drug, but too bad i can't take it anymore because of heart conditions. there are similar drugs out there to treat insomnia as well, elavil(amitryptiline), trazodone, gabapentin, lyrica, heck even some ssris can help u sleep better.

Loretta thank you and I am sorry for your battle. I know it is about finding what works and my psych is working with me just a battle. I have always had sleep issues. In the hospital pre rsd/pn I remember my psych saying I was on enough meds for a horse to sleep and I was still up. So with the pain and more anxiety really it is hard
Chemar Ok so a ? and I am so sorry I am slow. I saw 3mcg and so I think that is what I should start with and first try 1 and then take 2? The other one was the 3mg and that would be way to much like you stated.
Bruegger I agree there are many meds and it is finding the one that works for that person just like with pain. A lot of trial and error

I take 6mg every night. I have sleep apnea, and insomnia. Funny thing happened to me though. I started reacting to dairy, couldn't eat cheese, ice cream, cottage cheese...then gave dairy up altogether. I started drinking coconut milk in my coffee on July 10th, on the 11th, I slept all night long, 2 or 3 nights I have even slept 7 hours, which is very rare for me. It is now day 15, and I have not suffered insomnia in that time. It's amazing what intoerlance's do to a body.

Do you think the reaction to dairy is from the melatonin? I never heard that but not to say it is not cause I am nt that aware. I have never tried coconut milk. I have almond and soy of course. I am glad you are sleeping. I hope it continues

No, has nothing to do with melatonin. I am a celiac, with many intolerance's. Dairy has just joined my group of intolerance's. The dairy problem has been going on for a long time, I just didn't realize it.

I may decide to stop taking melatonin, not sure though. Our bodies also produce melatonin, and it's just possible, mine doesn't do it too well.
