I am writing this offline to see if my computer will hang while offline. I’m almost certain though that I am going to have to have someone wipe out my Window’s XP system and install XP with an install disk afresh. I could not get the restore disk for my computer because it is obsolete.
I had to reschedule the interview I had for Tuesday for this Friday at 2:00 p.m. as I was not over the diarrhea from the anti-biotic. I still have an infection but the doctor wants me to wait a few days before coming back to him. I do feel so much better today after being able to hold down food for a change. The doctor wants me to stay inside but I’m sure I’ll be alright. |

You did make it on Neuro Talk. If you have a computer question, there is a site called Computer and Technology on here. They have helped me in the past. I sure hope you get it going. I had to have XP Windows reinstalled and it cost a lot. About a $100.00.
I sure hope you get over this soon, so you can find a job. In this day and age if you aren't retired thats bad. I hope the divorce come's threw for you soon too. I just said a prayer for you, my friend. We are all sending get well wishes to you. Hugs, BC |

Hi BC!
Can you give me some more information about the process of having Windows XP reinstalled? Where would I get the software for it. I looked at Amazon and I'm not sure what I'm looking at. befuddled2 |

hi befuddled,
I would try this before buying a new copy of Win XP- With windows XP you can try to do a system restore- where you go to- start /programs/ accessories/system tools/ system restore - and click that and it will give you prompts /choices to roll the operating system back to a date where you think it was working well. It's pretty easy to do and explains the steps as you go though it. and if it doesn't help you can reset it or try a new date. * my XP CD is 4 yrs old and I reinstalled it twice and also did a fresh install on my new hard drive this spring. My old hard drive had crashed multi times - had bugs and viruses. I did have to update all the patches and security stuff from the Microsoft website but it was pretty easy to do. I just clicked on the Windows Update and it found everything for me. If those fixes don't help you might need to get a new hard drive not a new copy of XP. Do you have some anti virus, ad ware and spyware running all the time or even just run them once a week or so? On our computer & technology forum we have some good links for free software for those kinds of things. lots of tips and suggestions too.

Thank you Jo,
The question I have about system restore is that it will take me back to before my brother installed Micro Trend so that would be uninstalled right? He also installed a keyboard that someone else says could have a short in it. I emailed my brother tonight about the Micro Trend since he paid for it and installed it. I don't know what he'll need to do. Oh yea. When I go to Yahoo, I am always getting a message saying I've entered a dangerous website and to close the brower. |

Hon, mine had to be replaced at the shop. My hard drive was no good. Of'couse I lost everything and it cost $100. it made me sick, but if that is what it wrong with yours you couldn't use it anymore. I have put enough in mine now to have bought a new one. I have a lap top that was new last August and since I went wireless I can't use it. I do have a Router and it is hooked up right, but a number or name is missing. It is probably a matter of me reading the book. I have time now, so I must do it.

No it won't mess up any installed program or saved programs or files - it just takes the windows system itself back to how it was on the date you roll it back too. It's hard to explain but I have used it many times when something "happened" to make my computer act weird and it always worked until I did have the virus/bug problem that messed up the hard drive and messed up some of the windows system files. That was why I bought a new drive and put the win xp on to it and just use the old one as a back up. If you go into the settings or options on the Micro Trend - you can probably set it to accept/allow the Yahoo site without giving you that warning. I'm using Mcafee and the preset settings were popping up notices all the time- so I disabled most of those. Or is it the browser giving the warning? you can go into the tools or options on it also and set it to allow certain websites.
