Thumbs up I got an idea~ WARNING!!!

Why don't we talk about our interest and hobbies? I'll start since I started this thread.

I have changed a lot since my husband passed away. I have had to make a new life for myself and pet family. I really like being with my church family and I have grown close them. I see them more than real family. I mostly just have cousins. I do have a son I plan to see soon. We write but that just isn't the same.

My hobbies are changing somewhat. I had a few dolls and sold some because I had had them since I was a child. Gaye sent me one because I had told her I liked it cause it had dark hair. In a few days, here come the doll, Grace, in the mail. She is an expensive doll and "life like". Well after thinking this was my second childhood, I have taken up the hobby of buying dolls mostly at Goodwill and fixing them up. I do get some babies (new) and they are so precious. Almost life like also.

I have crocheted most of my life and made everything. I just love to make anything out of thread, all kinds of thread.

I also collect (JAN) angels. Jan on the forum is my special angel. I collect cats, chichens, & bird figurine's. (sp).

That's about it. I do try to keep God first in my life, Family & Friends second, & everything else third. When I do this, everything is GREAT in my life.

God Bless You,
Billie

Thanks, Billie!

I like being mama to my Zoe & Paulie (chihuahua & parrot)

Love to collect froggies and steal them off the forum

Baby dolls are my most favorite thing to search for at thrift shops & my "favorite place" Goodwill! Love to get dirty ones to clean & dress.

Next favorite, is taking dolls & stuffed animals to the nursing home where my daughter works. I get blessed visiting with the residents and have some very special ones I like to be with. It's fun to pass out hugs to them too, hugs are free, right there waiting to be passed out and make my heart feel so light and happy, as I do it. I don't think we can ever HUG someone too much.

Great idea!

I enjoy antiques & collecting, computers, cooking, country music, some talk radio, reading, ponds & gardening, home fix up projects, pets, arts and crafty things{ painting and making stuff}, cars/projects, learning about all those topics.

we go to the dirt track races and the local truck and tractor pulls in the summer.

I should have put family first on the list!

Well besides running around and going to doctor's appointments.....I love to read, but haven't done much of it recently. I belong to zooba.com. A book club where you make a list of the books they have available and they send you a book every 15th of the month on that list. I have been a member for almost 2 years I think and love it.
I also love watching movies. Todd and I have all the movie channels and since I am home I watch tons. I also belong to Blockbuster's Total Access program that runs like Netflix. The great part is that you can bring the movies to the store and get a free rental if you want or just mail them back and wait for the next batch of 3 to come.
I also love listening to music so I have an mp3 player that is on all the time when I am walking or driving around. I listen mostly to rock but abide mostly everything else.
Unfortunately I have no talent for yarnwork or quilting or I would do that. I've tried and made a mess of things....I leave that stuff to my younger sister.
I collect tortoises, yes live ones too, but mostly all kinds from cheap plastic to those from England.
Beyond that I guess laying on the couch doesn't count as a hobby does it?
Todd also goes drag racing each summer and I try to go and watch when I can.

Billie this is a good thread. It is so interesting to read everyone's post. Also for those who like to restore used dolls the Salvation Army is a good place to give the refurbished dolls to give to the unfortunet kids at Christmas. My dad's mom use to do that and was known as the doll lady in Paterson, NJ. She had I guess about a hundred dolls or such at the end of the year for the Salvation Army.

Like Billie, I am finding my hobbys to change somewhat since moving in a small apartment. I use to like to collect angels but now have no room for any so I left mine at my husband's house. I do like to learn and love to play scrabble. I've always loved to play cards or some type of game. I like to take pictures but never developed it into anything artisitic although I would like to. I love to shop and go out to eat in my favorite resturant to chat with the staff or other customers. The favorite restuarant thing has become something I've gotton into since separting from my husband.

Let's see a little about me. I used to be very busy with kids and soccer, scouts, baseball, and football. I was always one of the moms who helps the team rather than drop and run. After the accident I made it through one more season and had to stop, besides my son got hurt playing football so he had to quit also.

I like to read poetry and short stories. One of my favorite short stories is Kate Chopin's Story of an Hour. Some of my favorite poets are Robert Frost (Ghost House and The Road Not Taken) and Maya Angelo ( I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and Phenomenal woman) I used to write poetry and even had one published about my mom. Nowadays it seems like my thought processes are all off kilter so I guess I lost it for now. Maybe someday

I like to collect snowglobes and windchimes. I have about 25 snowglobes, the more unique the better. My favorite is in the shape of a train lantern like the one the men would swing when the train is pulling away and there is a train inside of it. My favorite windchime is the first one my hubby bought many many years ago.

I like to fish as much as I can. Hubby calls me a fishing fool!! Last camping trip i could not get a fish no matter how long or hard I tried. So hubby puts his hands on my pole and does a little chant to be funny and you guessed I caught a fish the instant my line hit the water. Now he thinks he is a fishing god or something.

One other tidbit, I got my nickname Snoozy because I like to sleep so they used to call me snoozie suzie when I was a teen. What I wouldn't give to be able to so that again

So thats about it and probably more than you wanted to know, but it is what it is...Sue
