Default To weigh, or not to weigh.....

What are everyone's thoughts on the almighty scale?

Sometimes I think it's good to weigh once a week if I think I'm losing because it gives me incentive to lose more! On the other hand, if I think I've lost some weight I think "Hey, I just lost two pounds, I can have that piece of cake!"

If I think I'm gaining a few pounds I'm afraid to step on the scale, and then it starts getting out of hand until I finally have the guts to do it. THEN it's shock therapy!! It's the old "fight or flight" thing!

Also, (I've never been there) but when you're at goal weight, how often should you weigh yourself?

What do you guys think?
Hugs,
LS

Hey, Janster.

I have been with Weight Watchers since August of last year and lost (as of last Friday) 82 lbs. Of course, I weigh each Friday when I'm there, and I have some ambivalence about the fact that my husband bought a scale, but I'm learning to just use it to have a general idea and not take it too seriously.

I do think weighing at the same time, the same day each week (even in the same clothes, if you can) is the best way to go. Then you know that your weigh-in is as accurate as possible.

Hang in, and have a bite or two of the cake if you feel the need. Then give the rest to someone who isn't trying to lose. PM me if I can help you with any other tips.

((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))),

I don't have a scale so sometimes when I go to the grocert store I weigh on theirs but never more than once a week if that much. Makes it fun to see the weight coming off in writing. GC

No Gaye, what would be funny is to see you hanging in one of those baskets that you use to weigh fruit. I just couldn't resist that one, hope you can forgive me...Sue

OH Sue you are TOO FUNNY! I think seeing me hanging in one of those baskets would be sooooooooooo funny! I can see it all now in the papers: Big old lady found in grocery store swinging over the produce section in a veggie scale! Her legs were dangling and she was mumbling something about being a Babe and not being able to fit right in the basket! 911 was called and the poor woman (who was cuddling a stuffed Frog) was taken to the locked ward in the nearest hospital! Hee, Hee, hee......What a story that would be. GC

Default Good laughs

Gaye and Sue,

You both crack me up. What visions I had in my head. And it is time to go nite-nite.

My opinion on scales is to throw them all out. Go by size. I find an outfit that is just a little too tight and when I can fit in it again, I'm finished. (Then I have to weigh in.) This has only happened once so I don't have a lot of experience in the matter.
