Default Tuesday Check In

How is everyone doing today? Any exercising on anyone's agenda? I plan to go to a nursing home today and check out what I can give the 4 residents I'll be adopting for Christmas. Walking all over that place will be my exercise for the day. It'll be my 1st time there so I'm sure I'll do a lot of unnessary walking just finding my way around. But hey, if it's walking it can't be unnessary because it will be exercise. I just hope that my body will hold up for it.

Anyone know anything about Pell grant assets restrictions? I have some major decisions to make in my property settlement with my husband that I don't have much time to figure out maybe. I can't help but to think I can do better for myself if instead of taking the property distribution in monthly payments called alimony that I may do better in a lump sum. That way I could put a down payment down on some type of home and try for half of a lump sum for the down payment and the other half in monthly payments for living expenses. I seem to be better off keeping the Medicaid and they do allow you to own a home but if I get all my settlement in monthly payments like it stands now, there's no way I will qualify. Actually no one has signed anything yet to make the monthly settlement payments legal. I wonder what the monthly Medicaid income cap is? Is there a way I could find out?

Talking Good Morning befuddled2~

Sorry, I can't help you with your questions. I don't know who you could ask, but more than likely someone on here can help.

I think it is so nice of you to help some of the nursing home folks. God will bless you for it. I have sing for the altz. (spelling) unit along with a preacher and you know most churches won't even go back in there. They are people just like any other. My Mother had the diease so I halfway understood what was going on. They loved to sing and dance so you just do what they like & they bless me back. There is no higher joy that can beet the giving of yourself. I think you will be blessed behond measure!

Jan, to continue with our journey to Alffie's, Do you think I could just bring my company along? I don't think I am going to have many either. Now we could just drive ourselves up there for she lives in Indiana. I think we could just have a great time. Where I live, it is suppose to be a warm day in the sixties here. That would be nice for you all that live in the cold weather, Jan. And for you all that don't, well that temp wouldn't be to cold either. I think we should go. How about the rest of you? It would be a blast. Maybe we could just stay over the weekend too. That way we could rest up or better yet, a workout together. Count me in!

Alffie thinks I am mad at her, but I'll show her I am not. Well I better back on out for now. Gotta pack!
Big Hugs for Alffie,
BC

Red face

Dear befuddled,
YOu could call the schools financial aid office or go in there. they would be able to answer your questions about the grants...I don't know what the limits are...but My gut feeling would be to take a set amount and make the down payment costs to lower a monthly mortgage payment.
remember though that you have to add PMI if less than 20% down and then home owner insurance and taxes to that "monthly" estimated payment...
just wanted to remind you of that. Have you thought about a condo?
Afraid I can't make it to alffes for thanksgivng, have to work and are going to some friends house. WE have talked about working in our outreach clinic for serving the homeless on thanksgiving morning.....they serve over 400 a full sit down dinner.
WEll I better get going to the gym...I had 2 margaritas and half a basket of chips last night.....

Default Morning All

Dear Befuddled;

Sorry, I can't help you but you should be able to find out about Pell Grants by calling the person at the bank that handles real estate loans. Have you checked the internet yourself? Securing a home with a low payment would be great for you - Smart Idea! Medicaid, I believe, is run by the state. So check with them although I could be wrong.

Bizi - NOW I know why you are caled "Bizi", because are always so darn BUSY! Dah, Nancy. Sometimes it takes me a while to catch on.

Are you guys really going to take a trip or is this another virtual trip. Even though it would be a virtual one give me a chance to come.

Nancv

Ask Bizi to tell you how she really got that nickname!

Ok, at the ready here. Nothing canned! We will grind the cranberries and peel the oranges...make the cornbread and the rolls, already grew the beans this summer. Oh, I don't shoot the turkey or wring it's neck.

And it is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I just got back from Curves and have really worked up an appetite! More about that later.

Good Morning all, I just had my special K and a banana so I thought I would pop in here and say hey. It sounds like we have a road trip in the works, well count me in. I have never been to that part of the woods so I will be the one hanging out the window...you know like a sloppy dogg getting the windows all slobberry -- is that a word???

I was just wondering if thinking about going for a walk counts??? Yeah I know, get off my butt and go. I think about it everyday but just don't do it. Yesterday I swept and mopped the kitchen and family room and I was wore out!!! I will try really really hard today to go. Promise!

Alffe, your dinner sounds great. I have to applaud you on the home made stuff, I used to make just about everything homemade but amymore I opt for store bought. My daughter asked me a couple of days ago if I was going to make pies and I asked if she would help and she said "store bought is OK" We did make a bunch of banana bread and she barely helped with that. I told her that she better pick a profession that pays very well so she can have a chef to do all her cooking .

Well I am getting off my behind and going to get busy...See ya'all later gators...Sue

Thanks everyon.

Bizi, what is PMI if I don't put down 20%? What does it stand for?
I got a lot done today. I found out what I need to do before I can apply for a Habitiat house. I need to attend a 2 hour meeting downtown. Geesh, that's the worst place I could go to.

I did find out also that I should qualify for a Pell grant for Fall of 07 since I will be filing taxes separatly this year and have been separate for most of the year.

Happy Holidays everyone.
