Thanks VL!
I live in Mayberry RFD, so I'll hafta look when I get to a bigger city. I drink Gatorade and Powerade a lot because I sweat so much. (I know, women don't sweat, they glisten......I SWEAT!) There's only 1% Potassium in Gatorade.

The last year I worked as a CNA (2 years ago) I was on salt tablets because of this. I would come home and eat a jar of pickles. Seriously. Figure that one out....I was on Lasix and a salt supplement...... hmmm (Kinda like an oxymoron out of context)

Anyway, because of the Lasix, the Dr. told me to eat a banana a day for potassium. Is this enough? I don't seem to get the *extreme* leg cramps like I did when working, just the occasional ones that make you jump up and look like an idiot. (Save the comments please..... )

I've heard a person can OD on a potassium supplement. Is there any truth to that? I was thinking of taking one, but jeesh.........
Hugs,
Jan

bizi, make sure you are staying well hydrated. especially with drinking slim fast and any type of protien or supplement bar.

your metabolism will speed up with exerising. you will digest what you eat faster. hence the feeling of hunger sooner than you are used to. take it as a GOOD sign! your body is using what you ate as fuel and not storing it.

eat smaller meals more often. watch the sports drinks. they can add alot of sugar and calories. propel and the smart water are good choices. the v8, v8 fusion which has fruit juice and other drinks with the blend of fruit and veggies make a wonderful small meal.

Dear Janster,
Yes you can OD on potassium and there are other foods that are good sourses as well...can't think of them...have to go look that up...
If you are still gertting the leg cramps then I suspect you still aren't getting enough potassium. alot of folks take a potasium supplement that their doctor prescribes with the lasix.
Curious,
thanks about the diet bars. I am still not drinking enough liquids....I was thirsty on the treadmill this morning and I have heard if you are actually thirsty then you could be down, fluid balance wise and getting dehydrated....Need to pay attention to this!
thanks for your post!
