Default Paleo/primal type diets

Anyone here of the paleo food plans?
The concept (more or less) is that back in time our ancestors prior to the agricultural age where healthier and leaner.
Additionally, the thought is that more people than originally though might be either allergic or subclinically sensitive to gluten, dairy, etc.
So the writers of these books advocate eliminating bread, grains and dairy for 30 days to see what happens.
They seem to vary a bit....but from what I gather, the writers advocate eating mostly lean meat, fish, etc., nuts, seeds, lots of vegetables, moderate fruit...
I think I saw one that allows limited potato.
Some say MUCH weight can be lost this way at a steady rate.
Has anyone heard about this? Thoughts?

Red face

the paleo diet books arrived this week.
It is supposed to help with acne so I am thinking about incorporating it into my diet. Hard to give up my sugery french vanilla coffee in the mornings....and I have been snacking on some dried mango jerky...that is awfully good!

you know that sweet potaoes are roots so they are allowed on this diet. thinking about it again a bit could help with my acne. Which is still a problem for me.
sigh

Sweet potatoes are very nutritious too.
They're on this list.

I slow cooked a pork roast today...
very interesting assortment of spices...including, coffee, chocolate, cumin, oregano, chipolte, cinnamon, garlic powder, sea salt then some coconut oil and a bag full of frozen chopped onions, peppers, pic sweet seasonings. the roast was already seasoned and it was a bit salty but very good. and interesting flavors!

we ate this with steamed zucchini for dinner tonight.
2 wood chuck apple ciders that are gluten free.
still thinking about going paleo for my acne....

just wanted to chime in that I follow a paleo/primal diet. once you read a few books on them you get absolutely convinced its how humans were designed/evolved to eat.

I'm trying to get my partner to follow me on this diet but he's stubborn

It seems pretty legitimate to me. I mean, we all we're cavemen/woman once, right??

Our DNA is meant for that diet.. there are some really good resources on the web you should check out..

For me the journey started with Dr. Hooshmand's 4 F's Diet since I have RSD.

http://www.rsdrx.com/four_f's_diet.htm

After finding:http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ in Jan. or Feb.? I felt the two complimented one another.

You do have to make a commitment to a radical change from the standard American diet. You no longer eat processed foods--95% of what's available in a regular grocery store. But, after the withdrawals...I did notice a decrease in swelling and some pain, I no longer have ANY stomach pain or random episodes of being sick to my stomach (which I thought was meds related and happened a few times a month) and I've lost around 30 lbs.

You can have a "cheat day" once a week. And things like whole fat yogurt and ice cream are considered fine.

Where as most people can eat gigantic portions of junk food (popcorn, chips, bread) if you eat high fat/high nutrition foods, satiety is quickly reached.

The idea goes against the established food pyramid. Several small snacks a day diets are giving you little blood sugar rushes all day. The paleo idea is to stop those spikes all together.
