Default Up And At Girls!!!!wake Up Call!! 9/24/06

Come on ladies!! Wake up those sleepy peepers.....there ya go! I knew ya could do it! Mornin everyone!

Well today is Jamie's 35th birthday so no tellin what we will be doing. He is going to do something on his birthday you can bet! Even if it is drive me craaaaaaazy!

So how have you all been this weekend? Some of you are getting that wonderfully cool weather and I so admire you! Florida is still scorching!! Sometimes I wonder why Mom and Dad decided to transplant me here from Maine when I was but a weee 10 months old. No changes in the seasons, tourist out the wazoo, rude, rude rude! I mean wasn't I happy there?

I am feeling pretty so, so today. SHHHHHH.....I don't use the word "good" because my body might here me! Other than this weird numbness in the top of my right leg aggravating me I think I am ok. One minute it is numb, the next it feels like fire on the inside? Whats with that anyways?

Well while you cheerleaders are snoozin, I have been up long enough that I think I will crawl back in bed myself. I truely hope you all get up refreshed and ready for what the day brings. You are all in my thoughts. Have a great day!!!

Sheryl

Good morning Sher and all to come~

Happy Birthday to Jamie from me Sher! I'm sure you're sick of all that hot weather, but man...... Why don't we do a time share thinggy?? We could have the best of bothe worlds? Kind of like a life swap!!!

Hey--I see the sun! No, really, it's out here! Honest! But, someone forgot to tell my body the barometric pressure raised overnight.....d@mmit...... maybe it's the time change?? or cuz it's the first day of fall, it is, isn't it? Oh well, not gonna dwell on it.

I keep forgetting to ask, but has anyone heard from Wends lately? The last I heard was the beginning of August. I also miss Mel, and Karen and the rest that I don't wanna name by name cuz I'll miss some.

Hailey and I are watching Sponge Bob Square Pants and having breakfast--kinda breakfast. We won't tell her mom..... Is popcorn in a major food group?? hehehe That's what grammas are for, right?? And that's what she gets for going to the Vikings game and making us watch it on TV!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good "D" and "E" day and a great Sunday!
Hugs,
LS

Default I'm Up But Not yet of This World...

Boy oh boy it takes me a long time to wake up. Plus last night I started Detrol
LA (You've seen those commercials, "Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Right Now). This is supposed to stop the going but last night I went all night!? Maybe it was just getting my bladder all ready for the treatment. I hope it works and I can sleep through the night.

I do not know what is happening with my peripheral neuropathy, Right after my 6 month check up with my neuro I started having problems (naturally). Before that, I could have about 3-5 good days per week. Now it is down to zero. My feet get really red after I'm up for a coupla hours. And then the burning pain starts and the stiffness in the toes and the feeling that my feet are too big for my skin. So into bed I go with my books, laptop and TV but I feel exhausted and typically never use them. What is happening to me??? I have an appt. with my pain doc tomorrow and my GP a week from now. I'm doing ok on eating less and eating healthy but I simply cannot excercise at all right now.

Anyone want to give their opinion or advice? It's welcome.

On Thursday my best friend from kindergarten through High School is coming to see me I hope I'm feeling better. I am so excited to see her. I live 90 miles from Vegas and she has a sis in Vegas she is coming out to see. So she's borrowing a car and coming up here for a luncheon visit. I wanted her to spend the night but she has to get the car back. Boy did we pull some stuff growing up and we looked so innocent we always got away with it. (Well, almost always) It's fun to look back.

One more thing and I'm done. Has anyone had a VCUG test done? My urologist is doing one next week and I am not excited at all.

Have a wonderful Sunday. It is cloudy here which is a very nice change.

Love to all,
nancy-h

Good afternoon Sher, Jan & Nancy.
I was up in the night so I didn't get up in time to make the forum and go to church. How is everyone today? I feel a little sore and stiff today. Then it feels cold to me. I have a couple coming over this afternoon. We got some business to finish up. then I may go someplace. It feels chilly out there to me.I like Fall, but dread winter coming on behind it. If I can just find a place in town that would help.

I may lay down and take a little nap after this is finished. I have the worst of sleeping habits, and I need to breake this one. Come eveningI will get more awake than I amnow..WellI better go,and see what I am missing.

It is definately cooler in my neck of the woods Louisiana...still in shorts and tee shirt though...freeze indoors...they run the AC so cold at the coffee shops here.
So we sat outside and watched the world enfold.
Need to do some paperwork/billing for work...must do this but am such a procrastinator.
Hope you folks have a great day!
I have heard that caster oil can help aches and pains....

Hey BS~
I hear ya. I think this must be the natural progression of PN or something. OR you and I are too much alike maybe?? Dunno. My feet turn red most every day too now, but I can wake up like that. (I hope it's not coming for you!)

The sensation you describe, I describe as my feet are gonna explode. My original description was "duck feet"--you know, like those Daffy Duck feet where his legs are tooth picks then those HUGE feet! I had to switch to "explode" after my Neuro didn't get the connection. (She's originally from Italy.)

The burning pain you talk about is more to add to the collection, and I'm hoping the stiffness we're having isn't the beginning of atrophy. (I'm afraid though......)

And Happy Sunday to you too. Sorry honey, I didn't want to sound like the Grim Reaper or anything, but I did want to be honest.
Hugs,
LS

Default Hi

Hi Jan, Billie, Nance, Sher Loc, Bizi,

I started off this lazy rainy day sleeping in as I was up until 4:00 this morning, wide eyed as I could be. I'm beginning to think I have day and night mixed up.

My hubby had joined weight watchers with me and has lost a total of 7 lbs. He weighs a lot so I'm trying to encourage him any way I can.

I have a bunch of recipes but need to look them up some good cake recipes but the trouble with even the low fat cakes is I overindulge. To those of you with a big family you probably won't have that trouble.

Nance I'm sorry to hear your pain has excalated. I've been on the Duragesic patch 50 mcg's for 2 weeks now and its made a world of difference in my pain. Its went from about an 8 down to a 2 level, no joking. Is your pain doc willing to try you on the pain patch? Its been a life saver for me. I was like you after my last visit with my Neuro I called and set up an extra appointment to talk about pain control and to my surprise he suggested the patch as you have more even pain control with all the high's and low's of the oxycodone I was on. I ask for a month trial period to see how I'd do and after 2 weeks on it it made a believer out of me.

I know narcotics scare most people but I was on a narcotic (Oxycodone 30 mgs. a day and it was doing nothing for me). At least the Fentanyl has helped and I've been almost pain free, still some pain but more manageable than before.

Take Care you girls.

Love Lynn

Default Dear Dr. Jan.....

How do ya like that one my dear???

Do you have any ideas as to what this could be in my leg? It is aggitating the h@!! outta me!

It started a couple of months ago. My doc says it could be a nerve that is right in the crease of my upper leg. It stays numb to the touch. I guess doc was pinching and poking me and I never felt it. But boy was my leg beat up when I left there, so I know what Katie said he was doing was so. But I never felt all that. She was cringing and I didn't know why til we left the office that day and she told me what he was doing. I never felt it though. But ever few days it will feel like its on fire inside the top part of my leg. So how can it be that numb on the outside and burn so bad on the inside?

I value your opinion as well as others on here. So anyone of you feel free to be opinionated here!

Thanks!

I am sorry to hear of these rising pain levels, but we all better be prepared as the winter months will soon be here. We all know what that means!! I dread it. Even here in sunny old Florida bones getta achin! And we all know exercise is hard to cope with during these times. Just do what you can as you feel you can, and take it easy when you feel bad. We all know how it is. I will keep you all in my thought and prayers.

Sher

Oh jeesh honey--I'm sorry, I totally missed this....and I have no idea why. I thought I was on top of everything..... GUESS NOT!! OOPS!!

I'm no doctor Sher, but that's exactly how my Neuropathy is. It hurts like he!! on the inside but is numb on the outside. You mention your doc--was that a GP? I can't remember if you have a Neuro, (what? Jan not remember something? ) but if not, you should see one. Your doc had nothing to say about it?? Like that would surprise me though....

I'd see a Neuro to see what's going on Sher. Better safe than sorry. That'll be $260.00 (Internist) and I don't take visa. If I were speaking as your Neuro it would be $420.00. The sad part of this is that these are correct Mayo prices. Well, lemme retract the Neuro one--that was last year.

Does anyone know a single doctor, preferably a Neuro??

Hugs,
LS
