I'm getting older, and with the auto accident I had in December, I haven't been to the gym since then. I'm now thinking about surgery.
I just happened to see part of a piece about an actor who had dealt with weight problems all his life, and finally at 350 pounds, he decided to go the surgical route, with a Mini Gastric Bypass. I was wondering if anyone has had this done or know about it. A website is http://clos.net/ If you want to see the procedure, look up "Gil Gerard" and "surgery" on YouTube. joe |

I think this is very interesting and something I may be interested in. I am still watching some of the videos on youtube. The cost was listed at 12,000.00 which is a hefty sum but if it can give me back some of my life and reduce some of my pain I think it is worth it. ...Sue

snoozie-
I can tell you'd be interested. I looked at the map for the Nevada facility, and it looked to be very close to Las Vegas. You should consider renting out a room for those of us wanting to go there. I have been trying to wade through all of the documentation, and the only downside looks to be having to take 3x the regular amount of multivitamins for the rest of your life. I'd rather take that than BP, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc. meds. joe |

Hey, Joe.
We talked about Weight Watchers before, some months ago. I'm serious: give it your best shot first. Even a "mini" GBS is invasive and has risks, and you can even gain the weight back! You may be amazed at how easy WW is. I certainly am! 18 months ago, I was over 300 lbs. I am now 215--90 lbs down!!--and I know I can get the rest off and keep it off. Give it at least a couple of months. I think you'll see your life change, just as I have. Go to www.weightwatchers.com and check it all out. Explore the bulletin boards. (Check me out, too! I'm LIZARD110366. ) Good luck! LIZARD |

Liz-
I tried very hard, but 3 months have gone by since I went to the gym. Still having pain in my hip after the auto accident. With all my medical conditions, I think I need to see about doing something that will help me drop weight more quickly than 1-2 lbs a week. I'm just looking, and out of all the surgeries, this one seems to be the least harmful. joe |
