New to this forum but i have found lots of useful information. I started my weight loss journey in 207 at 200 pounds (im only 5'2) My doctor said I should be in the 130s so in 2007 I lost 30 pounds as of today I have kept them off and two summers ago I was at my lowest 155 unfortunately depression hit due to illnesse so now now im back at 168 :/ so I have set my mind back to 2007 and lose those 30 extra pounds!!! If anyone has any tips they are more than welcomed!!

i'm great at giving advice but not taking it. so take this with a grain of salt.
drink lots of water, no soft drinks; bad for the bones. cut down on salt and processed food. don't deny yourself everything. if you need a sweet have it in moderation. eat frequent smaller meals. watch your portion control. eat more chicken and fish and cut down on meat. cook your own meals. eat more veggies/fruit. keep a food diary. helps keep you accountable. now if i just could take my own advice. good luck. sounds like you're on the right track.

Well, I've started drinking lots of water again.
Today I cooked some fresh cabbage. Now the house smells terrible! I also cooked some fresh summer squash & onions. Yesterday I cooked some fresh green beans. Everything cooked without any grease or salt. I know.....sounds bland but I already liked the taste of these veggies without any fattening seasoning. I just used a little black pepper and I cooked the cabbage in low sodium chicken broth. I also put an onion in the pot for the cabbage and beans. YUM!!

Having read extensively on this it is quite apparent that both the salt and cholesterol perils are not based on any proper research testing.
You'd be surprised to learn how a lot of our dietary no-no's came about. Think ego, pride and $$$$$$.. You must have some fats in your diet-they are essential. Just the right ones. Try coconut milk and cream, olive oil, ghee and butter. Animal fats are good. Avoid all highly processed oils like canola and margarine. Having a little bit of fat and protein with each meal will also help you feel satisfied, so you won't get hungry in 5 minutes. It will also help digest the carbs better. If you have to avoid one thing long term, it's sugar. Goes straight to fat, makes you hungry, and is addictive.
