Default Hello Everyone!!

I am new to the community. I actually just joined the diabetes board today and happened across this site!! This is great. I need to lose about 50 pounds and cannot seem to budge the scale. I do beleive it is my diabetic diet needing a big tune up! I am so glad to be able to come here and read what everyone is up to and get some ideas and support!!!

Welcome, Dorrie!

Have you known about your diabetes for long? I have hypoglycemia and ballooned to twice my weight because I was always hungry and would get horrifically sick if I didn't eat. Add to that, I'm quite a picky eater, so I would eat what I wanted and use the LBS as an excuse...'til I was over 300 lbs and couldn't breathe!

I finally joined Weight Watchers in August of '05, and I can't even begin to tell you how it's changed my life! 90 1/2 lbs are gone--forever!--and I'm learning how to keep my blood sugar on an even keel. I still have my difficult moments--every month! --but I know how to manage my food intake now and what constitutes a "small meal," so I can eat several times a day and still lose--and I get to eat stuff I love!

Please PM me if you wanna know more. I'd love to help you.

Smile Hi Lizard!

Thanks for your post. I found out about my type 2 diabetes in Oct. 06. I am having such a hard time with it. My sugars are up and down. More up. Stress makes it zoom. I am getting alot better at passing by the junk food because I have felt pretty sick several times because of it. I have struggled with my weight all of my 41 years but now eating the foods that I want not only keeps my weight up but makes me ill as well. Its a real bummer. I had tried the Atkins Diet and lost 15 pounds on it but shortly after that I was starting to not feel well and then BOOM my Dr discovered the diabetes. That put an end to the Atkins diet for me. I think I am not to the point of accepting the fact that things are going to have to change for me dramatically. I am mad about the diabetes but I am really frustrated that I can't drop any weight. I thought people lose weight when they have diabetes...not me!! I really hope that this message board will help me along..I love hearing how much weight people have lost. You have done wonderful, Lizard. I long to feel that thinness feeling. It was only a couple years ago I had went from 204lbs to 144. I felt wonderful. I wore mini skirts and looked so good. I now weigh 195lbs and feel like a blob. I am 5 feet tall to boot!! I have rambled enough...thanks again, Dorrie

(((((((((((Dorrie))))))))))))).

I should tell you that I actually weigh about 20 lbs more than you, but I'm 5'6," so I'm roughly where you are in proportion, I'd bet. I still have about 65 lbs to go, but at least I know how now.

Please consider WW. I think you'll be amazed at how much it helps, and how easy it is to do, as compared to so many other programs. Check out the site, www.weightwatchers.com. Go to "community" and check the boards out. I'm on the 100+ board (LIZARD110366). I know it'll inspire you as much as it has me.

Welcome Dorry,

I find that by participating in the WW message board's groups that it keeps my mind off the snacking. I post in a late night owls group in the 50's forum and we have fun.

Hi Lizard, you are great inspiration.

Default Welcome Dorrie

I'm a day late (and a dollar short!) but I want to welcome you as well, Dorrie. I joined Weight Watchers in Mid-January and have lost 20 lbs. while I ate and ate. I have another 20 to go but I'm getting there.

Again, Welcome!
