Hi Bizi My A1C test was 6.5 and he was happy with that, however my sugars keep spiking up to 13 and 14. My honey appears to have a sugar issue as well. Tonight after a balanced meal his sugar was 13.6. Not good. I think he is in denial. He hasn,t spoke to his Dr about it yet. The best thing I can do is remind him how important he is to me and all the kids and try to help him by preparing meals that can keep his sugars in order. So much fun!! I have been sick for a couple days...another thing that makes my sugar zoom...so I have not been walking on the treadmill. I have been off work today and will be tomorrow. I will see how I feel then and maybe take a relaxed walk on it. I am sticking to healthy eating, even though my appetite isn,t there and I am maintaining my 7 pound loss Hope all is well with you Bizi...thanks for your caring!!!

I am curious about your 13-14 readings...is that on a glucometer? How do you test to get these numbers?
I know that it used to be that a normal fasting blood sugar readings are below 120 or so what ever the latest ADA findings say... It sounds like you have been sick and I hope you are feeling better tomorrow. That you sleep well tonight. bizi

Hi Bizi Yes my blood sugar readings are on a Glucometer...I live in Canada and the #s are so different than they are in the USA. I am not sure how to convert them. My normal sugar shoud really be sitting about 4.5-6.0 bu they are reaching 13 and 14. There are times when I haven't eaten and my sugars will be at 10 or 11..Very frustrating!!!

forgive me for being nosey but are you on insulin or just diabetic pills?
they are not working (as you know) if 13-14 is what I think it is. try eating more proteins and fewer carbs this will help your blood sugars...proteins and fats help to stabilize blood sugars as they take a while to get broken down and get into the blood stream.... in the past I have worked with a lot of diabetics...how long have you been dealing with this? I wish you wellness dorrie. (((HUGS))) bizi

I was diagnosed in Oct 06. I am on Metiformim...1/2 pill (250 mg) low dose in the AM and same in the evening. Hoopefully it will help, I have only been on it not a week yet. We are hoping it will hepl my lose weight in conjunction with my exercise efforts and diet change. I do try to eat more good proteins and fewer carbs. I notice thogh that some days I crave breads, breads and more breads. It is tough. I have managed not to sneak around for chocolate. I was buying a choc bar and scarfing it down on the way home so no one would know...but I knew. Not only do I feel guilt and hamper any weight loss efforts but I would end up with blood sugars too high and boom sick in bed! When I do the protein thing I feel much better and I am not near as hungry! Hve a great day Bizi!!

I'm proud of you for taking the initiative, and doing this on your own.Taking care of your Diabetes properly, watching your diet, and they do have "Chocolate flavored protien bars",I'm not sure if thier okay for diabetics,I haven't checked on that, but you could check! Especially doing the walking to get the weight off,and not depending on others (Dr.s) to do it for you,you are a strong willed woman, and I believe in you,and that you can do it,and that in time, you will look in that mirror, and see the biggest smile on your face you've ever seen!
You see,my Mom took the easy way out, she's diabetic, and she just had 2 gastric bypasses to get the weight off.My sister is considering a gastric bypass as well, but could clean out a buffet! I have 5 brothers with type 2 diabetes, and only 1 of them is trying to do it the right way, like you,the other 4,clean out buffets, like my sister, and don't even try to lose weight, and pretty much lay around, after work! I'm afraid for them. But I am certainly proud to hear your success, and hope to see you continue with your weight loss, and I'll be here on the sidelines cheering for you!

Your welcome,I belive it's the support that really helps people to keep up what they're doing,if nobody is noticing, than they don't really feel too motivated to keep going!
