I've been thinking about going on a water fast for a few days. I'm 24, Dxed with MS since April 4th, and I'm 100 pounds overweight. I'm 5 foot 11, weight is 272lbs. Could fasting for a few days to clean out your system provide a greater start on after the fast?

try to eat only 1200 calories a day.
www.sparkpeople.com is a site that you can join for free and they have calorie counters and such also fitness counters with support groups of all sorts. I have been posting there for some time. Fasting has been beneficial for some people. bizi

Fasting would definitely be a great cleanser if you then follow through with healthy eating / exercise - but I would caution against using fasting as a means to lose weight.
