Question Do you use food as a reward for weight loss goals?

I have been afraid to get on the scale since back from my trip north...one week of great food and mudslides, more great food, my mom is a wonderful cook and I ate half a french silk pie in less than 24 hours. It was so good pecan , vanilla wafer crust ...yummm!!!!Maybe I should have that be a reward for reaching a goal....loss 10 pounds and make myself a french silk pie.
Is it wrong to use food as a reward?
I will get back on that "D" tomorrow.

I think it is. It just defeats the whole purpose. Maybe if you have a small portion of something as a treat, but the pounds pile on quickly, in my experience, if I stray from what I know works. Skip the "D," honey! Come to WW! It rocks!

Hi Bizi and Liz, I have to agree that using food as a reward is probably a bad idea. I am saying this from experience. I know that when I have lost some weight I think well it won't hurt to have a little, but I usually go overboard. Maybe you could have a small piece and give the rest away...and I mean right away I will small slice myself till it is gone so I try not to even have it in the house.

But then again Bizi pies made by mama are always calorie free right? Anything that heavenly has to be OK. I miss my moms apple pies, they were so light you had to hold them down. I have never been able to make a pie crust like hers and it is probably a good thing ha ha ...Sue

sometimes I buy the single serving of strawberry cheesecake that a local store sells.

I usually fall victim to the salt/chip combo craving for tortilla chips-tostitos!
If I do that I skip a meal or have veggies or yogurt and drink lots of water to flush out the salt.

I know most articles say to come up with other kinds of rewards - but sometimes you just need to take care of a craving!

Cool

thanks for your feed back.
I would eat the whole pie......
I do have to say that I am showing restraint....There are 2 unopened boxes of girl scout cookies in my freezer.
actually I am afraid to open them for the fact that I will eat them all.
So there they sit.
I can't eat them if they are unopened...
and giving them a way is a great idea...I might have my neighbors if they would like them with one condition ...could I have jsut a couple first?
...thin mints...

My daughter has a box of thin mints on the back of her desk. I spotted them when I was helping her download pics. I am so glad that she has the willpower to not eat them in one sitting. She must have got that from her dad and not me because once I open anything I will pick at it till it is gone

One thing though, since they are my daughters I can stay away from them. Must be the motherly thing to not take food from my kids because I can leave their treats alone. I'm one weird puppy...SUe
