Question Curves

Just wondering if anyone here is a member of Curves, and if you have had success on it. I went on Wednesday for a free day to see if I liked it. I did, it was actually enjoying to be exercising but not be hurting. It truly is low impact.

I think it is a great motivational place and very friendly from what I have heard.
I joined a gym and really like the basic cardio/toning class

I was a member of Curves 3 years ago. It worked great for me. I lost weight. I went three times a week faithfully! Slowly, after about 3 or 4 months things started to happen--to my body.

First it was my golfer's elbow and bad shoulder acting up from prior overuse from cocktailing at an Indian Casino. (Great tips man!)

Then it was my osteoarthritis in my hips also cocktailing.

I was falling apart at the seams. Finally my ankle and foot hurt so much that I went to a foot doctor. At the initial visit you know how they ask what happened and junk, well, he heard Curves and he just about hollered!

He said that's all he's been seeing is women with injuries from Curves! He asked "what in the hell do you DO there?" His words. Jeesh, I mean, all I did was to come in for him to look at my sore foot!

I just explained it like everyone else must have too, I dunno. He tried to tell me something about why it's hard on us women, well, our bones, or ligaments or something. Sorry, that was 3 years ago.

He wrote me a note so I could get a refund of my year membership. I think it was 3 months or so, which pi$$ed some of the women off that just quit going and couldn't get a refund. They said that I wasn't the first with a doctors note, so maybe he was telling the truth. They refunded it right away, without a sideways glance.

Anyway, maybe it was just my body, and theirs. I dunno. It worked for me, but so would any other type of exercise that I would be faithful to. That's the key. BE FAITHFUL! DO IT! Whatever it is, if you do it like you should, it will work. Curves will work too.

Good luck, stay with us, and let us know how you decide!! We care!
Hugs,
LS

Curves!! Is that what you said? Lord honey I haven't had any in a while!!

I have seen it advertised but have never met anyone that went there. But like Jan mentioned, anything will work if you are disciplined enough to stay with it. Personally I am not! I start exercising and I quit because the thing I was exercising for makes everything else haywire!!

I wish you luck on whatever program you choose. The effort in itself shows you are ready to commit to it. GO GIRL!!

Yep, Jan the exact same thing happened to me with my knees that I did not even know had severe arthritis in them. My ortho Dr also got me out of mine. Funny thing was I also belonged to another gym that I went to faithfully 5-6 days a week for 1-2 hours using low impact treadmill up to 3.5 mph for an hour at a time and thanks to curves I now can't even do that anymore. I have to start from scratch and start pool walking!
