Default Don't forget the water

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder. If you have no restrictions against it, don't forget to drink water. It may help keep those post prandial spikes down a bit.

As a young child, I was limited in the amount of any beverage at the dinner table. (Any beverage equaled milk and water in my childhood.) The reason was so that I would not fill up on beverage and not eat my meal. And without disclosing my age in this post, suffice it to say that during my childhood, meals were a family event every evening at the same time and consisted of a very healthy well-balanced diet that was home cooked. A time when most mothers were "housewives" and did not work outside the home. That was long ago and a different time than we have in society today.

The reason I mention this is because I carried that into adulthood and usually only drank a beverage AFTER my meal was completed.

I had an occasion to dine out with family not too long ago and was served water before ordering. I happen to like water so I drank it. The waiter was very attentive and continued to fill my glass throughout the dining experience. As long as water was in front of me, I continued to drink it.

The water did affect my appetite just as my parents warned as a child. BUT, now it served as a benefit and helped control my portion. I left the restaurant with a box of the leftovers, enough for another two meals to enjoy at home.

There is more than appetite suppressant to this story. Water consumption at any time of the day will help in the process of shedding pounds, and the biggest benefit I get, being a diabetic, the water also helps keep my blood sugar from spiking as high after eating.

So don't forget the water. Three big benefits for me.
1 Appetite suppressant
2 Helps shed pounds
3 Helps reduce post-prandial blood sugar spikes

Hope this will help someone that reads this post.

Sometimes I have to remind myself of the benefits and have water close at hand at home, too.

I have posted this to both the diabetes forum and the weight loss forum.

Works well for me on both areas. (I just need to follow my own advice and not forget,.... as I tend to do too often.)
