Someone today, I think it was Biz, mentioned the word, "Normal" when talking about eating and getting on track. She mentioned that she could not eat normal and loose weight. It suddenly occured to me that when it comes to eating for weight loss, there is no such thing as "normal". Look at all the types of diets out there. Some provide food, others just have a book to read. Some diets are rated "good" and others have doctors telling us to stay away from them. Even TV stars are getting in on the act, loosing weight very fast and making some people feel lazy and fat.
I have been on WW since mid-January. I have lost 60% of my goal weight. Unless I am traveling and away from home, I cook only WW recipes, which my husband and I both love. We read labels carefully when we shop and cleared all of our fat food from the pantry. So I would say that our diet has pretty much become our way of life or, should I say, it is our new "NORMAL?" Or should I continue to refer to the "DIET"? We intend on cooking and eating this way (low fat, low sugar) forever. So, is it "Normal" or still a "Diet" or, does it make any difference at all because what is normal anyway??? Any comments? Did anyone follow this crazyness? Love, Nancy |

i followed it.
it is a life style change. you have to find out what is the "normal healthy" for you. if the low fat low sugar works..then that is your normal eating. you will get down to your ideal weight. the weigh that you fee lthe best at. not a number on a chart. but a number where nancy says...ahhhhh...i feel good..i look good...and i like myself. for me, i have to eat high fiber and low fat. breads...they are a BIG time no no for me. try not to read too much about the stars that lose weight fast. our lives just don't allow for us to catered to in that way. personal trainers and chefs to watch us 24/7? ok..i have a personal trainer that i look at in the mirror...lol...and i am married to one. but we have a family..a life... also..i'm not willing to starve myself and cause heath problems down the road. i really think you got it nancy. your normal..is the cooking and eating you were doing to lose the weight. hehehe....was i rambeling?

I think you got it - the best way is to change out the bad foods and habits. And make new healthier habits and choices.
I try to not buy the temping things - unless it's for a one time splurge and then it's gone and out of the house. But a small splurge is OK and needed sometimes for me anyway. But I still haven't been able to give up the real butter, sour cream or half & half - those are my splurges i guess. sometimes a chocolate bar or ice cream during the month - but if we have those we skip the normal sized meal to compensate. For me I think I just need to really up my activity level and get the muscles burning the fat and work on reducing my portion sizes. I was so skinny for all of my life and could eat and eat - now it's all caught up to me.. I need to do the smaller plate thing ... also I wait until I'm very hungry and then make too much to eat.

Normal, hmmm,
I have no normal at all anymore. So maybe thats the problem I just found all this medical stuff or it found me. So there is no normal now. Eating went out the door, with the refrigerator a couple weeks ago. It is headed back soon. Donna |

Well for me lunches have resorted to the frozen Lean Cuisine meals and 100 calorie snack packs at work. I do great at work, but its at home I mess up. Luckily I am at work 40 hours a week and am busy. So food is only when I am hungry. Then I go home. Todd works later than I do and I am on my own for dinner. I end up going to some fast food joint or eating String Cheese and Special K snack bars for dinner.
Weekends I allow myself a break. So I guess that is my "normal" for now.

Diets are temporary. If you have completely changed the way you eat for good, it's a lifestyle change.
