Default Monday afternoon "After a Nap" roll call :-)

I was going to continue with the fun from Sunday on that thread but I was afraid it may not get read. And, it looks to me like we don't have Monday going (Unless I missed it and that is entirely possible), so here it is.

Gals, your admissions of guilt are hilarous! I learned a new trick - spray Pledge in the air - I can't wait to use it! And hiding candy brings back memories of my mom.

There were 7 kids in my mid-western Catholic family. We had not done any camping together but once, at my uncle's urging, Dad rented a pop-up camper and off we went. Things went well, everyone was having fun until it was our bedtime. Even Mom and Dad were tired and ready for sleep. We snuggled into our sleeping bags but the 4 youngest needed to potty - all at different times. We'd bring one back and another would have to go. After the potty runs, all was quiet until 2 young couples pulled in next to us and immediately cranked their music up high. They were about 8 sheets to the wind because one of the girls puked toward the back of our camper while her boyfriend relieved himself. That got mom mad, a very, very bad thing and out she went and in "no uncertain terms" told them to find another place to park. I think they were afraid of my 5 ft. mom with the big voice because they left without another word. Finally, we were all just drifting off to sleep when we heard a crinkle noise, followed by some smacking, then more crinkle and smack until we all sat up, "What's that" we wondered. Slowly our eyes focused in the dark and we were able to see a small figure sitting in the corner of the tent with a sheet over their head. It was mom, trying to eat her precious Brach's candy mix thinking we were all asleep. We let out scream, "MOOOOM - let's get her" and we all went to her side of the pop up tent, causing it to tip over. (Dad didn't have it ancored properly.) At midnight, our camping trip was over. The pop up was closed up and the nine of us made it home where Mom, with her Brach's mix, and Dad slept in their beds and their seven children slept in the pop up in the driveway. We never did go camping again and I now have this aversion to it. All because of Mom and her hidden stash of candy.

Well, sorry for the length of this but you gals reminded me of the story so I thought I'd share it along with a warning. Be sure to hide and eat your special treats away from prying eyes and little hands and feet!

Love you all,
Nancy

LOL nancy!

i just buy candy...like coffee nips..that my kids don't like.

i'm in slowwwww motion today. totally wore out from too many hours at the fair. back and legs are in bad shape. it was fun. lots of good shows. even a very good exhibit all about healthy foods. it was good for the kids to see, not diet foods for healthy foods..but real down to earth veggies and fruits. dairy....

drinking lots of water today and eating fruit. it was pretty hot yesterday.

Default Oh, I have many stories

Growing up in that family led to, and still leads to, many wonderful, well, some wonderful tales. It's funny when we talk now what each of us remembers the most about.

Well, bedtime for me. "Now I lay me down to sleep..."

Later all,
Nancy

Default After a huge state fair, I'm sure you're sore.

WELL, we really didn't like her Brach's licorice mix but we didn't want her sneaking it, either! Brats, all of us!

Isn't your state fair the largest in the country?

Thinking back on some of my childhood camping trips....

camping with kids in cloth diapers - that's what my folks did

things that happened- we camped a lot-
car transmission went out
car blew head gasket- had to keep stopping for water all the way home
lantern caught a tree on fire
saw a bear
tent collapsed during a windy nite
I hooked little brother with a fish hook when I was casting
I crashed a bike on a steep rock road, getting a road burn on my elbow
got rained on many times or the plastic "tarp" roofs would fill up and dump on someone LOL

fun stuff-
playing cards late into the nite
s'mores
SOS for breakfast
hiking or riding bikes everywhere
hangin out with good family friends

Good times and good memories
