ok guys, now i'm MAD as heck and don't want to take it anymore.
i need to sound off so i can sleep tonite.

this morning about 0900 my toilet was acting up. it was sluggish and incomplete flushing and after several different tries i abandoned it because i thought it was going to overflow.

i made 4 calls to the emergency maintenance # (& spoke to a human). no service and no call back. the operator said a single dwelling toilet was grounds for emerg repair but couldn't, or wouldn't, give me any answers. ever since this new company bought this apt development there has been no 24/7 on site maintenance available. i've had toilet problems before at all hrs on all days and it's always been addressed.

this apt has been going downhill for at least 2 yrs. it's gotten dirtier and dirtier. now the trash bins from the garages are being left outside without covering til the trash whatever empties them. trash not only blows around the parking lot but in the garages. the garages havn't been cleaned in 2-3 yrs. they're very dusty and dirty. residents, including myself, keep bringing these things up to mgment without action, only excuses.

and, the gate system hasn't worked (thus the apt bldg security that i pay for) in 4 mos. something about since we bought the bldg and changed companies they "can't find the line". well i don't buy that line. i think something is going on here and they've been lying for mos. but i can't prove it.

i've talked to some of my co-residents who've heard maintenance say that the resident "make too much trash".

we have a 311 # here in denver that people can call for help and resources in the city. i called today and someone from the public health dept will be calling me, hopefully tomorrow. they will investigate and get back to me without disclosing who i am.

my lease is up the end of aug. i've often felt like blasting these people but have kept my temper. i've heard others say the rent has gone up by $50/mo. i've lived here almost 20 yrs and know how this place has gone downhill. i'm concerned that if i make too much noise they will raise my rent big time.

i kind of feel trapped. cathy doesn't think we'll move for 2 more yrs.
that leaves me with making the decision to find another place to live and to make moving plan in 4 mos. needless to say it will be a tremendous effort for me to move, and very expensive. i don't have anyone to help and they will have to pack everything.

tomorrow i plan on starting to throw away (yes, i'll be making more trash) every extra thing i don't want or use to cut down on these expenses. from extra pens to extra glasses.

i can also call and find out what my renter rights are and how to address this problem. maybe they want to make us miserable so we'll leave. they are re-modeling empty apts i've been told. and, we are right near light rail so maybe they want to really jack up the rents or even go condo. i don't know.

i can also call my local news channel to see if they're interested in a story.

i'm mostly unloading. i know how long this is.
and, if anyone has any thoughts on this situation i'd like to hear them.

thanks,

Good Morning Judy! I'm so sorry about your apmt problems. Of course, you know I can't offer any suggestions for you. We don't rent or lease, but my DS had quite the problem at his other apmt complex. The owner had many large apmt bldgs all over the country and he just kept skipping around, as he was in debt up to his eyeballs.

It got to where every month, my DS had to mail his rent to a diff address. We broke the lease (DH is good at threatening) and got him out of there. It was such a nice place when he first moved in, but it got to the point where nothing was getting fixed, trash was building up, etc. My DH threatened to call the local news station, etc. We heard on the news that he had a tremendous gambling debt.

They let him out of his lease and even gave us the deposit back *eventually* Thank goodness he is in a great apmt now.

Anyway, this sounds like a job for da ~ da ~ da..... AMN.

She probably has some ideas for you, if I know her.

Take care of yourself and try not to get too worked up. It's not good for you.

I'm sorry, that's incorrect. Please select another topic.

Oh Judy, I am sorry your having issues. Maybe moving would be the best option at this point. Now listen, moving is expensive but there are ways to lesson that cost. For example, call your local university and ask to speak with the Greek office (fraternities/sororities) and ask if they would be interested in community service. They have to have so many community service points to stay active on campus. They (your local fraternity) receive no kick back at all from this except to gain points. Chris's fraternity has worked for the local women's shelter, kids programs, Relay for Life and disabled community programs. It's just a thought and something to get for no cost.

In the meantime, if you want, you can PM me what university is in your area and I can see if Phi Kappa Psi is active at your university and see if the boys can get in touch with them. This is the fraternity Chris and Nik belong to. Of course you'll have to pack up your stuff and maybe provide pizza and drinks to the boys but hey, if it's free that's not so bad right? Let me know what you decide. Even if you have no university or Greek fraternities to look into, I am sure they have clubs that do community service, even at the community college level. Many honor societies offer this type of service as well. Nik belongs to one that does this.

Yesterday, you would all be proud of me. It was my b-day yesterday and I only had one small piece of cake. It's weird, the more I am trying to eat right, the less that stuff taste good. I likey.

sandy thanks for that good advice. i will get back to you about it.
cindy, have you forsaken me?

today was my last PT visit. i have improved my legs slightly and my hands definitely. i am planning on doing my legs exercises in the am because they're stronger and my hands at nite.

weight stable.

i went in this am to "talk" to the mgr. i didn't yell but i was very honest and assertive. she was in the middle of a big project but did listen. given platitudes as i expected about all the problems. i told her i did all i could as a tenant and the rest was in her court. we'll be having another talk.

i havn't heard from public health but i know they will call me. should be this wk.

i'll keep you posted on this saga.

I ain't forsook nobody, Judy. I'm just not in a mood to take on a cross-country landlord dispute! I have lesions and limitations. Now, if you'd like me to buzz down to Toad Hollow and smack dm, I'm at your service.

Hi Judy! Good to hear that your wt is stable. That's showing that you are holding your own.

Sure do hope your landlord probs resolve soon. Keep on em!

Have a good evening and I might just see ya in the hallway. I have drank so much water today, I think I'm floating!
