Silly Judy, if it's cheap on sale, it's still disposable! I'm just glad that you're not running around buying anything retail that will be three sizes too big by the end of summer!

I'm glad you gave yourself a nice day out, and I'm proud of you for using the scooter, I know how stubborn you can be about it. Lunch sounds divine, next time I'm out, you'll have to buy me lunch there.

DM's AWOL on vacation but Wiz will be home from hers in a day or two, so she'll have to fill in for DM (the little slacker).

I think you've had a marvelous day and I know that you'll be good, eat your dinner, take your pills and get that SkinnyButt into bed before they kick in!

*TWEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!*

YA HOO

GUESS WHAT?????

my brother just called.

he got an e-mail from the lady at the governor's commission and deborah (his wife) AND I can go with him to the dinner

for those who don't know...
my brother & i went thru some horrible medical/nursing tx each time our parent died. they were in FL and we were in CO. each time one or the other of us spent 3 wks away during this awful process.

when i came home i wrote an article about our tx and most of all my folks' tx. 2 different hospitals BTW. so, one article got printed in my local nursing newspaper, the other in our local newspaper.

then my brother wrote a rebuttal to this reporter who totally got things wrong. thus he embarked on a 2 yr journey of writing a book for nurses, drs, laypeople, boomers & their parents etc. the book is meant to enlighten people as to what goes on in hospitals around the country; the culture etc. and how to travel thru it to make any individual's experience when ill a better one.

we just wanted to make a difference and try to make some changes to our system. he also submitted one of 31 healthcare proposals to our CO legislature and worked on the governor's blue ribbon healthcare commission. his proposal was around end of life issues. it didn't get picked but...

there is to be an appreciation dinner at the Governor's Mansion next thursday. at first he said we couldn't go because they lacked the space. so now they've said we can go with him.

so, i'm so excited! now to decide on an outfit, jewlery etc. thank goodness i'm getting my hair done on tues.

oh my, oh my.
i'm just beside myself

Back to Nordstroms you go. LOL.

What exciting news! That is awesome. I am glad you are able to join your brother on this special night. We will want full details afterwards.

Additionally, the two of you should be very proud of yourselves for crusading to make a difference. I am proud of you. That is a huge undertaking but others have listened and that's a start. You would think with all the records reviews and quality management that goes on in a hospital things would improve. But they don't. I was on a team for this. Weekly we would review records. Of course, we only followed JACHO's standards. After the reviews I would spend hours doing an analysis and trending only to find that sometimes it made no difference.

You are a very exceptional person.

Regarding "End of Life" issues, I have studied a lot about that, since my husband went threw this in July of 06 with Cancer. Hospice help him and thats when I became interested. I am now a volenteer for Hospice and have learned a lot and keep learning as we have meetings once a month. I have one patient that I spend 2 hours with once a week at his home. Some visit the nursing homes and see 2 patients. I live farther out from the city so am assigned to just the one patient. I find it very rewarding, to give back to someone else, what I have been threw in our family.

thanks for the words tkrik,

my personal opinion is that JACHO is a sham.
they're more concerned with getting things off the floor and locking up syringes than they are with staff issues and delivery of care. IMHO.

dear fancylady,

i'm very sorry for the loss of your husband. and bless you for your volunteer work. it's so very important.

~~ check in for today,

weight stable. blah. i was very good yesterday. it might have been the chinese food i ate again. i wasn't planning on that. my brother called me at 1700. he was in town and sitting in a chinese retaurant before heading home. he asked me to join him, so i did. tonite will be better, i'm home.

didn't do the dreadmill yet. i might skip it. i'm really hurting. ok, well maybe 2 min's.

tomorrow is definitely an in day. need to get caught up.
