Default Roll Call for Thursday, 11-16

Morning All !! Hope you all are up and doing well. Many of you have gone on some great fat-eating programs with excercise like walking, plus cutting down on your calories. GREAT WORK, ALL!

I'm having a flair, not too much pain but just annoying and is effecting my whole body.

Many of you have asked that I write a little about my cruise, so today is as good as any other day. We went on Carnival Destiny, one of the larger ships in their fleet but a little older as well. Not that the staterooms were bad, the beds were wonderful, they were just dated. It's surprising how much stuff you can get in a little room. Mike and I brought along wheelchairs, the best thing we could of done! Just getting to dinner and back would have killed my feet. (I only had 1 bad day out of the 12 that we were gone and that's really good for me.) Storing the wheelchairs was interesting but we had a balcony so we stuck them out there most of the time. The trip down to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where we sailed out of, was LONG. We left Thursday night at 11:00 p.m. Going down we took a red eye so once we were seated, we popped the old sleeping pill and we both slept until we were right outside Orlando, where we changed planes. It was six o'clock in the morning and by the time we got someone to push us to our next gate, we pre-boarded our flight to San Juan and got in Friday at 1:00 in the afternoon there.

Naturally our room wasn't ready so we rested in their sitting room but noticed that people who came in after us were going to their rooms! We realized that tipping was the trick so after $10.00 exchanged hands, we were in our room and it was lovely with a view of the ocean. We both rested that day and the next so we would be ready to board the ship on Sunday, which we did in the morning. I think we were on the ship and in our stateroom by noon. We found the food immediately and took a tour of all their was to do onboard (4 pools caught my attention and size-wise, I was thinner than many of the ladies wearing bikini's!)

The islands that we visited were: St. Thomas (my fav), Dominica, Barbados and Aruba. We did not go off the ship because our friends had scheduled their own shore excursions and we just didn't know about handling our wheelchairs. If we ever go again, we will make sure that at least one stop has a wheelchair friendly excursion. But we always had a good look at the islands and could see the selling going on down below. It was probably a blessing in disguise that we couldn't get down to buy anything!!! Spent enough money on the ship!

The dinners at night were splendid. The entree offerings were wonderful and it all tasted heavenly. Boy do I miss that. And the servers would perform for us sometimes which was so funny listening to the different accents singing an American tune. Speaking of Americans, we were the minority on the ship. Probably 40% were Puerto Rican, 30% were European and the rest American. That was very interesting to me. I was very happy sitting by the pool and watching people! The most fun we had was finding the spa and spending two afternoons there getting regular massages, head & shoulder massages, and facials. Very delightful indeed!

But it all had to end. We left the ship Sunday morning, and went to a Holiday Inn Express to rest up for our trip home Monday. All flights went well and we got home and into bed by midnight. On Tuesday, we awoke to about 8 loads of laundry and reality which hit us square between the eyes. All in all, in was good to be home.

So I think that's about it. I tried to keep it short so I hope I didn't bore too many people.

Love to all~

Hey BS~
How lovely and luxurious it all sounds! I am so happy for you and Mike that you had the opportunity to get away and spend some time together, and also with some old friends. We should all do more of that. That's really cool. Do you have any pics that you can attach to show us? Or email them to me and I'll post them.

I'm not doing too much here today. I had a g/f day yesterday. We had lunch, did some shopping, and also got groceries, so when we got home I was shot.

I'm trying to work my way up to making the leftover ham into scalloped potatoes and ham. That's always a job! It's such a mess that ya wanna make it worthwhile, so that means 10 pounds of potatoes and the roaster that squeezes into the oven. It all shrinks down to hardly nothing, and by the time I share with everyone and put a little in the freezer, there's not much left.

How about that Emmet last night on Dancing with the Stars? Anyone else watch that? I used my 5 votes for him and I'm SURE that's why he won..... Hailey and I and baby Anna always hafta dance when they dance, so my footsies are hurtin' for certain these days..... And tonight it's Grays Anatomy!!! How boring am I when you look forward to TV shows?? Jeesh!!

I've been doing pretty good on my "D" & "E" lately, 'cept today.... Did you know Chex Mix makes a "Cocoa" one for a limited time? Trust me on this one.....DON'T BUY IT!!!! You'll end up eating it in less than 2 days...... Will someone PLEASE come on a virtual walk with me tomorrow??

Maybe GC will do me the honor of skateboarding with me??? I need you GC!! I'll try enticing her...

I hope everyone is having a great day! Hang in there everyone and be good to yourselves!
Hugs,
LS

Smile Hello Yall

I am AKA slogo. I have changed my name due to not being so slow anymore. Praise the Lord, I am so much better and felt like a name change was good. I couldn't get back on the forum anyway, cause I couldn't remember my password. Got on today and then POOF...couldn't do it again!

Nancy, the trip sounded wonderful! Glad you had such a good time.

Jan, you found me hiding under a stump and brought me back! Hugs, Gaye

BACK
GC!!!

I am SO GLAD to hear you are doing so much better honey!!! YAY!! Does that mean you will walk/skateboard with me?? I promise not to blame anything that I knock down on you.........OK, I really promise.....just this once though......

I just can't get motivated to walk without someone doing it with me. I know, I'm bad, but we all used to do it, and faithfully, at noon Eastern, and I felt so much better, and I was losing weight.

Does anyone else wanna get in on it?? Lets get back into the swing of doing it. Just imagine everyone walking with you, wherever you wanna walk. Put lipstick, chapstick, lip gloss etc. on, so you are a BABE!! I'm walking at the grocery store tomorrow--they're letting us back in cuz last time we got kicked out.......I won't go into details, but let's just say it involved a skateboard........

Good to have you back GC/FL!! I still think of you as GC (Gaye Cheerleader)

The group just wasn't the same without you!!

A BIG GLAD YOU'RE BACK HUG!

Hugs,
LS
