I'm getting irritated. I know I put this weight on over a 4 yr period, but DANG this is going slowly. My screwy scales said I was 170 this morning. It's putting a dent in my motivation. I'm trying to hang on here.

It's just so much easier when you can actually see that you are losing.
If I just lose a half pound, I'm happy. Keeps me going a little while longer.

I still plan on getting on the doctors scales tomorrow to see what they say. Hopefully it will say less than my scales.

I'm just a bit discouraged.

Heart

You will do it Day.

1 -2 lbs a week. Hormones can make it flucuate. So can getting even a little dehydrated. Slows those bowels.

Give the scale a rest. How are your clothes feeling?

My husband even commented last night that I need new smaller jeans. The scale has been the same for a week, so I know the fat is going away and my lean muscle is up.

Curious...haven't been here for awhile. Congrats on losing weight...looking at getting into a smaller size jean!!!!

DH and I lost weight years ago w/ WW. We are devotees. Not too long ago, I gained a few pounds though. Got stuck there. I am under a lot of stress and then some extra stress on top of that made things harder. Recently, I
am on a much better path and am losing consistently!

I do like the new twist to the WW plan just introduced.
It is very similar to the other programs....but even more emphasis on vegetables/fruits and lean meats. Still room for individuality though. It seems well rounded to me and for dh and I, the support and accountability of the place make a big difference. I struggled terribly at home.

I'm thinking more and more about some things...
1. I must control my sugar intake. I can't let sugar control me. For me this meant not eating any dessert items for about a week. I don't worry if sugar is in ketchup or salad dressing, etc. I just follow good common sense...I go for low fat, small portions. Actually, I think olive oil and vinegar is usually best....
2. Then, after recording my food intake in a food journal (all folks interested in weight loss should be doing this anyway), I realized that to still lose weight and to still keep myself in good psychological control, I could not consume more than two dessert items a week...small portions. So, I pick and chose when I might eat those. Some weeks, I might only have one dessert item. I am "fussy" about eating a dessert...cause I know that it packs a wallop for me in many ways. However, I don't want to completely give up desserts 'cause I ain't dead.
3. Bread is not as much of an issue for me as a sweet dessert....however...it can be if I were to eat it daily and in large portions. I have a high fiber bread...one or two slices now and again...when I really want it. I just make sure it is of good quality and not daily. It is not a big deal...and it has worked out fine.
4. Exercise...a must. Light to moderate aerobic exercise is very helpful. I have recently been more consistent with light weights. Sometimes I think heavy exercise is a problem for folks with weight issues. They turn to food in the end because they become physically or emotionally drained afterward. The amount of calories they consume as a result is sometimes significantly more than what they burned off.

As a side note: I have all sorts of health concerns. I am very proud of myself and all the weird modifications I have done here. I try to do 30 mins. on the treadmill regularly. If I am honestly tired, I will only do 15 mins. and feel absolutely wonderful about my effort. If I have pain in my ankles, I will switch to the ellipitical. If I am very sick, I wont exercise for several days and then exercise at 50% upon my return. I am constantly giving this thought and doing the best I can.

5. Somewhat related to what I said in #4, I have found that so much of this (losing weight and maintaing that loss) has to do with my emotional and physical state. This is why I have to address that as best as possible and as soon as possible when things are going haywire.

I find that when I don't want to face certain things, including my weight, I totally ignore the scale...and it only makes things worse to do this. WEighing regularly, once a week if you are losing and more often if you are maintaining, has been very helpful for me. I like those digital scales that measure in tenths. Each tenth of a pound lost should be cherished! WW has been great for me and my DH for a variety of reasons, but weighing regularly on a good scale can also be done at home.

Well...not all of this is easy...but it sure does feel great when that weight starts to fall off, both physically and psychologically.

I know we are all different, but I hope something I have said has been of some help to someone.

Hang in there everyone!

Hi VL

Have you tried the cinnamon supplements to cut the sugar craving? They have work a miracle for me. There is still chocolate halloween candy left!

I can bake cookies and not eat them.

I wore a pair of black dress pants today. A size 8. I could sit and even bend over. hehehe.

WW has made great progress. I was glad to see it. I still wish they would break up the points. Color code them or something. Make sure people really do get a balanced diet. The changes they did make, help keep the totals more in check. Like the commercial shows...adding pepperoni slices to the pizza...if you pile them on..more points.

I have not take the cinnamon supplements, HOWEVER, I regularly eat plain 0% fat yogurt with cinnamon in it...almost daily (usually at night) and this reduces my sugar cravings.
The new system is not color coded, but they have a new little book w/ a new coded system to go with it that makes things easier.
Congrats on the size 8! It is a good size!
Do you wish to get any smaller...or are you happy where you are?

Congrats on the Size 8.

You asked earlier how the pants were fitting. Well, they were lose, but now seem tight again.

I will see at the doc's office tomorrow. Hopefully I will have lost more than I think. Then I will be happy and continue on. Well, I will continue on in any event, but I may not be happy about it. lol

Hi All! Checking in to say hello! I have not went near the scale...I am too afraid to for real. I am still not smoking but must admit I am munching...I need to get the courage soon to get a grip on things. I am feeling quite depressed since I quit..I guess it is emotional eating.

I haven't gotten on the band wagon yet but it's still on my to do list...

I've been painting walls and re textured the back entry walls- and that makes my neck & shoulders get all aggravated...
but it will look good when I get it done..prob next week..I hope.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Welp, I got on the doc's scales today. I was 172. When I started I was going up and down between 172 and 175.
It's like I've done nothing. grrrrrrrrrrrr

I don't get it. Counting calories and exercising has always worked in the past. Just as long and I stuck with 1200 calories and exercised moderately, I would lose steadily.

Now, Nothing!!!
I am dumbfounded. Why am I not losing?
Before when I would do this, I would have lost 10 lbs by now.

GRRRRR I'm so ticked.

day i think it might be a case of "before" metabolism and "now" metabolism ... i am not sure how low one should go on the calorie intake but maybe 1150 instead of 1200 ... also are you're clothing telling you that you've lost weight by being looser ... could be you are loosing weight but gaining muscle and that is a good thing ... am sure curious will be along soon and she may have more insight on this than i do ...
