Self control is hard, but it’s the only lasting diet!

back on sugar and hate myself for it

I was practically off sugar, when my neighbor's refrigerator went out and she wanted to leave things in my freezer. If she hadn't told me there were chocolate mint cookies among the items and invited me to eat some, I wouldn't have eaten them all [!] and then felt the need to keep replacing them and eating more. She left town shortly after giving me her groceries and hasn't yet shown back up. It's been weeks, but I know she will be back as she owns a house here. Meantime, I'm back on the sugar addiction and don't know how to get off. I gained 12 pounds in the last few weeks! This is not good. billie

To DM

I think your grazing is the way to go. Keeps the metabolization process up, and eating a little at a time, keeps access from being stored. Go for it! billie

Mostly I tend to go for fresh fruit or dry crackers when I want a snack. If it's near lunch time I'll put a slice of cheese or tomato on top of a few dry biscuits, but if I'm just grazing then I'll grab 2 or 3 crackers and nothing else. I don't mind eating them dry.

If I feel like a snack in the evenings after we've eaten dinner, I tend to grab a handful of nuts and dry fruit. We don't often eat desserts at my house, so I daresay the nuts and dry fruit satisfy my post prandial sweet tooth.

Cinnamon reduces suger cravings

I have heard from many people that eating cinnamon takes away your suger craving. I do not like sweets that muchbut I did purchase cinnamon spead to put on my toast sometimes. Hey it only cost $2 to try it out.
