Default Sooo....

How do you lose the weight when you cant hardly move around some days. I have Fibromyalgia, Arthrosis, and scoliosis in my back. Some days I feel I am lucky to be able to get up to go to the potty and get something to eat. Some days I cant even bend to get dressed. I am gradually gaining all the time. I am in PT for my fibro. But those are just stretches mainly . I feel like I am such a failure to myself. I dont have to be really skinny ya know.. But a healthier weight . Something that maybe is easier for me to function everyday. I am so discouraged right now.

Default Dear Bethy

Well, without knowing a lot of particulars, it's hard to say what might work well for you. And the only way for us to get to know you better is for you to sign on every day that you can. First, you will find out that we are all just a little bit nuts. Crazy, fun kind of nuts who just like helping each other out on all things, not just weight. Well actually, I said that wrong. We help each other out on all things because almost everything effects a person's weight. If you feel better about your life, or even a small part of it, then you will be more likely to want to change the part you don't like - your weight. Does that makes any sense?

So the one thing I can answer is that if you want to enjoy yourself, and have a few laughs, join us here and you will soon be sharing weight loss ideas as well.

Glad to meet you Bethy - I'm Nancy-H and welcome to our wonderful family.

Sunshine or Bethy~
Glad to meet you! I'm LS (Little Sister) cuz I'm younger than Nancy. WOW, it sounds like you wouldn't be able to move very much some days. I have Fibro also, along with back & other problems to name a few, so yeah, some days are better than others. I'm in your fibro bag with you. It makes it hard to do things at all some days, you're so right. Alll you can do is just try your best--do what you can for exercising, whether it's sitting and stretching or whatever. It's frustrating!

Please don't feel like a failure honey!! You didn't choose to have these things happen to your body--it's not your fault! They are the major contributing factor that you can't exercise, and eat a little more cuz you are in the house more than normal! If it were up to you, you'd be back to your old self, doing normal things, and not have to worry about Quite THIS much weight I bet....... Come here sweetie....

Why not try keeping more nutritious food within reach? Try fresh fruit and veggies. I seem to grab whatever is handiest when I open the fridge, so I try to keep carrots and celery cut up in water in there. Also, by having a support group around you, like us, it seems to help. You can come here and talk about anything.

Why not give it a shot? You might amaze yourself! Come on Sunshine/Bethy, you can do it!! Stay with us for a while and start feeling better honey!!
Hugs,
LS
PS--Do we call you Bethy or Sunshine? I get so corn-fused........

You got some good suggestions here. How about starting with very gradually decreasing your portions? I joined Weight Watchers in August of last year, and that's one thing it teaches. We eat a certain number of "points" (roughly 60 cals per point), according to our starting weight, and every 25 lbs lost, the points allowance decreases slightly. You can also earn more points with activity, and everyone gets 35 additional points to use through the week, if you choose to. You can use some, all, or none. (Amazingly enough, I find I lose faster if I eat them all! ) It's a wonderful program that has helped me lose 91 lbs in 16 months!! I am not doing any serious activity, either (although I am starting to think about what I can do to increase my cardio fitness with plantar fasciitis in my right foot, as well as scoli and mild balance issues from hydrocephalus).

Hang in. It can be done! Check out www.weightwatchers.com for all the info.

Good luck!

LIZARD

Hi Nancy! Thanks for your reply . I think I will fit the crowd just fine lol.. I am a bit nutzy myself lol.

I have alot of other things factoring in here. I am an emotional eater too. Due to many stressors in my life. I try to do caregiving for my dad and am his DPOA. He is gradually needing more help that I cannot give because of my problems. I am bipolar also. So you know how the depression thing goes there. My husband is a good man, but he wants his beef and pork alot for meals. He cant stand chicken unless its cut up in little pieces or shredded. So there isnt much leway there on what to fix for meals. He's a little skinny fart too. hehehe.

I am also a member of the sistersite PsychCentral. Dr John and KD are admins there too.

Ohhh and call me Bethy .. thats fine with me.

Thanks for your reply also LS!! I am not sure and I may be getting ahead of myself here but I think you might be my big sister lol..
hehehee

I do keep healthy things on hand. Lots of melon.. thats something I get all cut up and ready to go from the grocery. And I keep carrots and celery on hand also. Luncheon meats such as chicken and turkey too. And some lean cuisine meals . My husband works 3rd shift so I eat my lunch alone. Call me Bethy .. that is just fine and dandy with me!
