here i yam :)

thanks biz. yesterday took forever. i got to the hosp at 0730 and didn't get taken into the OR til 1500. the procedure went well but...they couldn't get the filter out. the dr spoke to my friend and said it might be impeding into the blood vessel. yikes. just what i didn't want to happen.

the risk then, with leaving it in is that it would damage the vessel (and it's a big one), cause bleeding, or cause death if it perforates. i see the dr in 3 wks so will ask all my usual big list of Q's. i feel like i was run over by a mack truck today. every muscle is sore. can't drive for 4 days. that's ok. i'm going to sleep alot.

plus, i didn't eat or drink for 17hrs. don't worry, i won't whittle away to nothing because i need to drop 50 lbs. now that really would be an inspiration.

rats!
How disappointing that they could not remove the darn thing.
sigh
thanks for the update and keep in touch.

I bought a new car!

after months of fixing my 17y/o van i was told now it's the engine and it wasn't worth fixing. it's been running fine but i finally decided to buy a new car.

it's a long story but i settled on a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. it's a really nice car with a nice ride. it's a big change from my van and will take some getting used to. i can get in and out of it ok. and, i can stand up and get out.

i'm taking a bit of a risk because there's no way i can use my scooter and it won't hold the outside the car one either.

and, my red betty boop steering wheel cover looks great with the grey car :)

hi guys, havn't posted here for awhile & i've been doing well until 0430 this past Sat am.

i got out of bed to use the bathroom but didn't make it. i'm sure many can relate. i felt a little weird but got in the shower to just rinse off. got out & fell flat on the floor. didn't pass out but just couldn't use my body. couldn't get up either. so i called 911.

so SIX emt's show up (my friend let them in). now, i'm laying naked on my BR floor & these 6 really cute emt's are standing over me. OMG.

so, i spent 4 days in the hospital on triple antibx & fluids. plus my blood pressure was really low. all signs pointed to an infection but they didn't know where. the initial dx was septicemia. but all my cultures were negative.

so, i'm home & hope i'll be fine, at least for a while. these hospital visits are getting tiresome.

i'm sure you can relate. be well you guys.
PS...it wasn't neurological.

Hi Judy,

Yes, falls taking us to Hospital are not good. I had one just over 10 weeks ago which broke ribs and started my weight loss regimen and another last week which kept me in overnight. Mine are due to spinal damage and Neuropathy.

Hope you are feeling much better now, at least you gave the cute EMTs something to talk about!

Dave.

thanks dave. hope you're doing better also.

I hope you're doing better now, Judy. I've almost fallen several times but have been able to catch myself......but I know it's coming. I sure do hope I'm not naked on the bathroom floor, though!! And I say that for the sake of whoever has to come and find me! :o

I hope you're enjoying your car. Hyundai makes a great car. If I could drive I think I'd have either a Honda or a Hyundai. You're so fortunate to still be able to drive. I hope it lasts a long, long time for you.

Be careful and feel better soon!

well, now i'm in a hot mess

last wk i saw a segment on NBC Nightly News about IVC (inferior vena cava) filters. they reported that several brands were being warned against by the FDA and that they were responsible for breaking off in the body.

they caused hemorrhages, perforated vessels and could travel to the heart or lungs. people are dying. and, not surprisingly, the company knew and came out with new models not any better than the old. NBC named Bard as the company and Meridian as one type of the filter.

just the kind i have in. the same one my cardio surgeon said he couldn't get out last year because it was imbedded in my inferior vena cave; the largest vein in the body.

they did a report that a dr at Stanford U in Palo Alto, CA runs a clinic where they have developed a way to non surgically remove the filter. i have a call into them to discuss my situation. evidently after about 5 yrs the filter can start to break off.

so. say a prayer for me that i can resolve this problem. and i thought this year would be the year of no procedures/surgery. i am really sick of all this stuff....
