Default Hot All The Time!!!

I'm 45 and pretty darn sure I'm peri-menopausel. My problem isn't hot flashes but the that my body thermostat is stuck on high! I constantly feel warm or hot. I live in Ohio and as you know we had a pretty cold winter. I had to keep my house thermostat set on 60 and I still ran around in a tank top and shorts, I sleep at night with only a sheet covering me and my ceiling fan on and still have problems with night sweats IF I dream or my stomache is trying to digest food. I sleep on a towel because when I was laying against the sheet it would actually feel very hot to the touch when I would wake up thru the night. An example would be if I had placed a hot iron on the sheet that is how it feels. I sweat profusely when I exert myself in any way, taking a shower, getting dressed, walking somewhere, generally just moving. Do you know how aggravating it is to be sweating while you are trying to dry off after a shower? Anyways I seen my gp 2 days ago and ran it by her, she didn't have any idea. I had my thyroid checked in Oct. and it was normal. I'm on birth control pills because my periods had become heavy altho now I deal with break thru bleeding every single day. It's better than the heavy bleeding. I take Neurontin for Trigeminal Neuralgia and I know it is also used off label for hot flashes. I think I am just having one continous hot flash or something. Christmas eve I was at my daughters for dinner, I was of course burning up and she turned the thermostat down for me. Needless to say her and her father had to put on coats while we ate and I sat there somewhat cooler. Whew! I think that's it. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Or who I should see and what tests I should have done? I am absolutely dreading summer because if I am hot in the winter I can't imagine what it will be like. Oh and when it was -5 here on days and people were bundled up outside I was walking around just my sweater and still hot!

Robyn, have you had any change in your condition or gotten any good advice from your doctor?

Are you drinking plenty of fluids?

Have you tried one of those neck wraps that you can put in the fridge?

I run hot, but not THAT hot!

Sounds miserable! Hope you get some relief soon!
