Hello,
I have somewhat of an odd question to ask. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help me with this or not. I do not feel comfortable going to a gynecologist, especially if I don't actually have to. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the past, lets say 3 months I've noticed some odd changes. First it started with pelvic pain. I would have random shooting pain through my insides that were pretty severe and then they would just go away, off and on... this still happens occasionally. Then I also started noticing a change in my menstrual cycle, which pretty much never changes at all. Now in the past couple of months I've noticed vaginal burning right before my menstrual cycle and then it goes away. It only burns right before it. I also have pain in the left side of my abdomen. Any ideas? (and no there is no chance that I'm pregnant or have an STD. just to clear any questions about that) The only thing I can think is causing it, is sometimes I would take a tampon out when it was dry and it felt like I was ripping out my insides. If that is the case, I'm not sure what to do to get right of the pains... ? Thank you so much to whoever reads this and especially to those who have any idea! |

Yes, I hestitate to go see the GYN doc too!
But with these symptoms and changes in the norm, I would definitely see a doc. Dry tampons aren't going to produce the symptoms you describe, IMO. Best wishes to you, AAngel!

What is your age?
is the pain in the left side of the abdomen all the time - or mid cycle?. in my late 30s - at times I could tell by the pain when the egg was dropping out of the ovary It would hurt like crazy for 30 minutes or so. Have you ever laid flat and palpated your abdomen? To see if you felt anything or any specific sore spots? I would do that and if you feel any unusual lumps or super tender places - then I suggest a dr visit to check it out. You might even find videos online showing how to palpate and what to check for.

Can you be more specific about the burning you feel? Is this a skin sensation of burning, and is it painful, or just feel 'hot'? and is it external, like labia, vulva, clitoral burning or more internal vaginal burning? I won't get into specifics, but sometimes you can still get an STD without the same sexual activity that is normally considered to spread it, and without any specific sexual activity at all. For example, and though I don't think that this is your issue, you can catch crabs from a toilet seat, an infected bed, car seat, recliner, etc...and I've heard of herpes being caught from a toilet seat as well- though it is rare depending on how well the bathroom gets cleaned! I once worked as a custodian at a college, and the whole wrestling team spread an awful skin fungus around, and then they whole girls basketball team caught the same thing because one player dated a wrestler, and then she spread it elsewhere on her own body, then shared her deodorant with another player, etc...weird but true. My best guess for your particular situation would be related to hormonal changes, which could be the result of an ovarian cyst or any number of things. If you prefer to not see an ob/gyn right now, you could see a general or family practitioner and ask them to run some tests of your hormones- which basically means you collect your urine for 24 hrs and they test what is excreted in your urine. At your age, a significant fluctuation in hormone production can indicate kidney problems, or diabetes. Good luck!~ |

How severe is the pain? Sometimes if its not that severe then its nothing to serious however if the pain is that bad i would go see a doctor. It def does not have anything to do with your tampon like you said that would not give you pelvic pain. When was the last time that you got a pap smear done? If its been a while I would suggest you go just to make sure everything is ok.
