Hi , my name is Tori lynn & I;m new at this. So I hope I can understand I'm doing this right. I had a hysto/ appendex/ bladder tack done back in 2005. Since the surgery, my life has been a liveing hell. Hope someone out ther can give me some pointers as to what I;m going thru.Bleeding, painful intercourse, severe low abdomal pain, like stabbing, tugging at my organs, feels likes someone is trying to pull my insides out, as if I'm in full blown labor at times. The bladder tack was suppose to take care of the leaking urine, but it has gotten worst. Now I urinate, and sometimes dont ever know it. This is so awful. I hate myself. The hard part is finding a Dr. to go back in & take the mesh out. Beings the mesh is under a major law suit. Does anyone have info on this? If so, I would love to hear from you. Thanks & God Bless you.........

So very worried about this vaginal mesh I had done back in 2005. It has caused more problems for me now, than what was there before the surgery.
Has anyone else had the vaginal mesh done, and if so what was your out come? |

I had to have a Rectocele surgery because the urologist didn't reinforce the wall to stop the lower bowel from coming down now that there was a space because the bladder was moved. You might have a Rectocele (lower bowel bulging and narrowing the urethra and causing problems with urination. I have been having all the pressure you are talking about; but also have had spine fusion almost 6 years ago as well and after having my bladder surgery came down within two weeks later, edema and still have to take pills to keep the swelling down. Also came down with Statis Dermatatis a few weeks after the bladder surgery affecting ankles, feet and going to the knees. it is discoloration and blood vessels and possible ulceration under the sking. I can't help but wonder if this mesh isn't the reason for the terribe edema and the statsis, as well as this starting peripherieal neuropathy in the legs, feet and ankles. Burning and painful legs and pain up to the spine. (I know some of the spine pain is from the fusion; but worsened after bladder surgery. I asked the Urogyncologist who did my Rectocele surgery (thru vagina and pushing the lower bowel back in place. It is now coming back again. This urogyny, when asked if he thought much of my problems were from the mesh, he said he didn't think so and the position you are put in when doing the surgery, frequently causes problems. I'm not so sure because everything is getting worse and so is the pressure. I would suggest, if you have not already, seeing a urogyny to see if you have a Rectocele which could also be causing some of your problems as well. I did see something in Consumers about a warning from the FDA in 2008 to doctors not to use the mesh in the vaginal area because it can erode and cause a lot of pain and almost impossible to remove. This is not in all cases; only the ones the mesh has caused problems. The article said there were some women that were not affected by the mesh and did not have problems; but there were far too many that did. I doubt if I was of any help; but am going to see my urogyny in a couple months and ask if there is some way he can tell if the mesh is eroding. (Gerry) |

I'm curious about how she resolved things too. I've heard that there are class actions lawsuits going on about this issue. Anyone else heard this?

To all the ladies that have posted on this thread,
I am so sorry to hear about your pain and suffering. It was suggested a few years ago that I have the surgery for stress incontinence issues but I declined. Hearing what you ladies have been through, I am so glad I decided to just live with my issue. I went straight from the monthly pads to the Poise pads after menopause. I have yet to be "pad free" since puberty but I will take the pad wearing any day over what you have all described. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. I hope each of you gets a good resolution to your problems and can become pain free. Just a side note,..... I had gyn surgery at the age of 26. I asked for a hysterectomy at that time due to the many gyn problems I had. I was told I was too young and I was subjected to putting up with all the problems until menopause. I was thrilled when menopause finally came my way only to be told then that I needed a hysterectomy. My response was, "You docs had your chance years ago and made me put up with all the pain and suffering for decades." Thanks but NO thanks. Only if my life is in danger do you get to take it out now. Many do not have the same options that I am fortunate to have and my heart goes out to each of you and what you have had to endure. After reading your posts, I realize just how fortunate I am and how I may have dodged a lot of complications. My best to each of you and my wishes that each of you get the help you need. |
