After my last back operation, I
Used so hard to pee, that the rectal wall pushed into the vaginal canal. When I went for a transvaginal scan it showers two prolapses, one the rectal one and the other the cervix. It also picked up a polyp on my cervix and a suspicious looking shadows on one of my ovaries. My surgeon suggested taking both ovaries taken out lapasopially (sp) and a vaginal hysterectomy with repairs done then. What I want to know is what to,expect??? in all of it |

Hi Saffy,
I recommend going to the following site: http://www.hystersisters.com They are a terrific resource for information and support on issues like you're experiencing. I did have a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago, which helped control my level of pain significantly. I do still have my ovaries, but they took my cervix and uterus. It seems as though there are always some complications, and I was no exception. My uterus was strongly attached to my bladder. Part of my bladder had to be removed, which meant a catheter for a couple of weeks. No fun, but it could have been worse! Best wishes to you, Take care! Shez |

Thanks for the link. Have got a black mark on one of the ovaries that "looks suspicious" so that's why the ovaries are going.

Well, today's the day. I got up early and went for a ride on my mobility scooter. It's a beautiful summer morning here in the UK ... for once ... and I had a lovely time.
Got a couple more hours before I have to leave for the Hospital. Going privately this time as our BUPA Insurance covers this whereas, because my back problems is "ongoing" they wouldn't touch my SCS application) Anyway .. I get a nice room with en suite .. and am taking my I Pad and I Pod so hope there may be Wi Fi ! XXX SMILES XXX |

I had breast cancer in 1991, and was terrified because the markers came back that it was hormonal and it was highly reccomended that I get a full hysterectomy. im 29! I thought. The MD said "do you want to be 30?" I got the point. I geared myself up and gritted my teeth. I presented myself.
I woke from surgery and felt horrible, but the MD slapped an estrogen patch on me and in 20 mins I felt tons better. it said sometimes you can get an estrogen crash after a surgical menopause. They weaned me off the patch for the next few days and I didnt have a problem. I didnt have massive night sweats, or mood swings like most folks claimed I would. oh boy! I did NOT miss my period! it was awful and would go for 9 days and then 3 weeks later, start again. I was anemic from blood loss due to it, and was forever eating iron pills. it was great to feel some energy return. My skin stays clear, my muscle tone is great and my bone density is right where it should be. (exercise if MEGA important after to keep building bone like estrogen does) Im sorry you are going thru this, but let me tell you, if I could go back and confront the 29 year old me I would tell her to "calm down." its going to be ok. I dont have anymore cramps, I dont have anymore ruptured cysts I dont have anymore pain, and since it was all done and over the worry of "is it cancer" left me. There is a ton of female cancers in my family. it would ride my mind like a horse in the night. You will do great!

I did almost the same thing about 10 years ago. Had hysterectomy and at the same time anterior, posterior and birch proceedures. I was really sore for about 5 days. I was sent home with a cath. Make sure if you have one, you are extra careful with changing it. This can be a source for infection. You will be OK in no time at all. I have no regrets as bathroom is better all away around. I wish you all the best in this. Be good to yourself through the whole process. ginnie
