Sorry to give such a silly name to this thread.
I have had nerve pain in both labias for 3 months now. (started in one place, then expanded) It started with an infection of the bartholin glands(tiny cyst which ruptured) somehow it irritated the gland which ad previous internal scar tissue from previous surgeries (small cuts, nothing drastic). I don't now WHY, but this started a cycle of labial pain, the nerves just irritated each other and now I have severe stabbing, vibrating, electric shock type pain!! I am on 50 mg amitriptyline and have seen at least 30 doctors in London (A&E, GPs, Walk in clinics, GUM clinics, you name it) I was given the diagnosis of vulvodynia at first, but it looks more like pudendal neuralgia?? My medication is working for unprovoked pain, but when I touch the area it starts to buzz, I feel something crawling under my skin, and then I get some pain. I feel swelling that does not exist as well, however I DO NOT HAVE BURNING PAIN. Do you think the nerves are damaged or just irritated? I also get horrible vibrations in my buttocks...and strange random pains. Doctors look at me like I am crazy and they all check me for cysts, but I have none, and they are horrible, even for london they are useless Thank you all, and sorry if it's TMI, I'm a young girl in shock due to her symptoms. |

Hello, your not silly for asking for help. I've suffered from vulvodynia for 4yrs and I'm now 20yrs old. I can send you a list of all the treatments that I've experienced and let you know how they work. I also know a great herbal natural balm that really helps the burning. I'd be more than happy to talk to you. I find it very helpful to talk to people who know our pain. *edit*

Hi everyone,
thank you for replying. I already mentioned I don't have burning pain. I can take a hot bath and use any king of soap. After a lot of research, I realised I just have neuropathy, and not vulvodynia...I know all about the herbal balms like traumeel...don't need them...I need lyrica and nerve blocks.... any of you had a nerve block of the pudendal nerve ? I suspect I have ilionguinal, genitofemoral and pudendal neuralgia after looking at some photos. I DO NOT have vulvodynia AT ALL. I have buzzing and electric shocks, whereas vulvodynia is mostly burning, stinging, itching, stabbing pains..... I feel for you, girls
