Is it ok to take baths?
I asked on another forum, and didn't actually hear back from anyone who had had the procedure done. My take home sheet doesn't mention anything about taking baths, but if you Google your way around, you'll see everything saying "avoid baths". I'll be honest, I don't trust the take home sheet OR Google, so if anyone has any idea (has been through this) please lemme know if my baths are ok Thanks!

Well, I'm no help, but just wanted to say I'm glad your procedure is over. When in doubt. call the # they gave you and ask. I would think you'd have to wait a bit to bathe though. Take care and sending hugs.

Thanks folks!
Go figure, the "do not" list is identical, except mine does not state the tub baths. I tried calling the Colposcopy clinic number, they were busy all day. Then I tried calling the actual doctor's office, and his office was closed for the day. LOL. Ok, showers it is. I'm glad you ladies never had to have this done. The aftermath is straight out of a horror film, and that's all I'll say about it. Glad I had the econobox of lightdays. Joy oh bliss I go back for another colposcopy in 4 months.

Hi dmplaura,
I have read that cervical cytology is often associated with a vitamin B12 deficiency. I have personally known several women who have had repeated abnormal pap smears and they all tested low in B12. If I remember correctly you were having some issues with canker sores in your mouth. This too can be a sign of vitamin B12 and/or folic acid deficiency. Here is a link demonstrating a study that clearly indicated the correlation between the B12 and cervical cytology. http://www.biomedexperts.com/Abstrac..._control_study Bryanna Quote:

Thanks Bryanna I dunno about the cankers being caused by b12 deficiency or not. I've noticed a definite link to those and high acidic foods.
As for the abnormal paps, leading to colpolscopy, leading to LEEP... this was due to HPV. I had not had a PAP in several years. Bad me. But biopsy thankfully showed no cervical cancer, but definitely the precancerous cells. Hopefully this procedure got all the bad stuff out, and HPV stays dormant and doesn't reoccur.

Hi dmplaura,
Here is an article about HPV. Unfortunately, the virus can recur. The studies indicate that it depends on the health of the persons immune system. http://www.ashastd.org/hpv/hpv_learn_myths.cfm HPV is a fairly common infection and should not be associated with any stigmatism whatsoever. People of all walks of life get it and some don't even know they have it! But it is important to know the facts about the virus to help avoid a recurrence. Info on Depo provera and vitamin deficiencies..... (Medoxyprogesterone)- progestins are usually used with estrogens for contraceptions. Also used for dysfunctional uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea, suppression of postpartum lactation, endometriosis, and management of endometrial cancer. Depletions:Folate, Magnesium, Tyrosine, Vitamins B-2, B-3, B-6, B-12, C, and Zinc (harvey R and Champe P, eds., Pharmacology, 2nd edition, Philadelphia: Lippincott-Raven 1997 p 267). Another site about this is.... http://www.eclecticphysician.com/arc...ion=Nbr&Nbr=46 Some causes of canker sores.. http://www.holisticonline.com/remedi...troduction.htm I always feel that a variety of information from different sources is most helpful. Hope you find this helpful too! Bryanna Quote:

Thanks a lot for the information!
Lots of it to read, I shall return after I have my sleep to check things out. In any event...I called the gyno today (since the Dr. was in, yay!) and he actually said baths are perfectly fine following the LEEP he did! I guess it all depends on the case and how the procedure is performed. In my case they're ok and a go ahead

Depletes magnesium??? Maybe that explains why my headaches get worse on Depo. Also the reason I really didn't want to start this BC method again. Grrr.
