I absolutly love Regenerist by Oil of Olay.

I have sensitve oily skin, melasma, which is the darker skin patches, plus I just turned 45.

This stuff works miracles. All the products that I used to get from dermotologist, just irritated my skin more. I stopped using them and switched to Regenertist.

When I had a foloow visit after a year, my Dr was amazed. Told me to keep doing what I was doing.

I di have a year or so, because of finances that I couldn't even afford Oil of Olay. That won't happen again.

Exfoliating is very important too. Getting the dead skin cells gone, then moiturize and repair the new skin. After a month of doing this, you will see great results.

Staying hydrated too. I always harp on drinking lots of water and limiting caffiene.

I am very faithful to my vitamins. My hair and nails grow and grow. I need to upload a new picture.

Thanks Curious!

I have dry sensitive skin. I decided to try some of the Anew products from Avon that everyone raves about. Well, for me, they didn't work that well or at least the cleanser and the make up - the Thermafirm works great.

I exfoliate with an apricot scrub (which I love) and started doing that months ago then stopped when I got the Anew cleanser. I started that back up and since finances aren't the best for me, I started back up on using olive oil as my face moisturizer. (Trust me it seeps in pretty quick and you only need a small amount applied to damp skin). I learned about that from an Italian woman who had beautiful skin.

When I get my next SSDI check, I'll have to budget in for the Oil of Olay and give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion.

I'll be 45 in a couple of months so we are the same age. I'm just going to follow your lead on this. LOL I would follow my sisters' lead on this but 2 of them have beautiful olive skin and live in more humid climates and my other 2 sisters have similar Irish white skin like me but don't have the sensitivities that I do (1 lives in a more humid climate and the other in an arid climate).

www.oilofolay.com

Get some samples. They are great about sending good size samples.

Same with Loreal.

I always try before I buy. :D

Garnier has some good products too. We had a sample testing at the club. We got thousands of samples leftover. It has an SPF of 28. It's light and goes well under makeup. I'll look at a sample and get the name.

I'll send you some to try if you want. I might even have some Oil of Olay samples.

I was taking MSM for RSI related pain/symptoms, but it is really nice for hair, skin, nails, etc.
In short, it is something that used to be in our soils, but is now depleted.
But our cells really like it.:)

[MSM, methylsulfonylmethane (METH-əl-sul-FON-il-METH-ane) provides sulfur, a vital building block of joints, cartilage, skin, hair and nails, and methyl groups, which support many vital biochemical processes in the body, including energy production. MSM is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in small amounts of many foods. As a dietary supplement, MSM is synthesized. When made correctly, it is identical to that found in nature. MSM can be taken alone or in combination with other joint health supplements, such as glucosamine and chondroitin.]

[Q: What effect will MSM have on my skin, hair, and nails?
A: Extensive anecdotal reports suggest that MSM supplementation improves the suppleness of skin and the shininess of hair and nails, which also become less prone to cracking and splitting.]

Thanks Yappy! I just signed up for some free hair color products at the site. I would participate in a Women's forum, but tend to shy away from anything toooooo personal. Guess I'm kind of old school, like Kell. I also use Olay Regenerist and really like it. A little bit of it goes a long way.

www.dove.com

Both hair and soap samples.

So DM..does that mean you tell us what kind of lip gloss you use?

tkrik 01-16-2009 02:18 PM

Yeah I'm like DM and Kelly. Some issues are too personal for me to just lay it all out there. But beauty tips are always welcomed;)

Thanks for the links you guys. I ordered up some samples. Yeah!

Jo - I'll be checking in to that site in a minute. But I don't know how many of you have been pregnant but do your remember how your hair, nails, skin, etc. was so wonderful at that time? I was going to look and see what was in prenatal vitamins and possible taking them instead of a daily multi. What do you all think?

I wonder if it would help with peri-menopause, which I think I should be starting soon, right?

WalMart has a great Hair Skin and Nails Vitamin. That's what i take. It's a lot like the one from GNC, but inexpensive.

They will keep sending you samples too. I love it. :D

Curious - That is so cool! I have such sensitive skin and over the years have spent $$$'s trying to find products that helped. I finally found Nivea Nighttime Renewal Cream and it is awesome for my dry skin. Samples is a great way to try the product 1st. Thanks again for the links.

Curious 01-16-2009 02:29 PM

Even if you don't see a link for a sample, you can always email a company and ask.

I did some searching one day for websites on products I liked and ones that I wanted to try. (ok..itwas nighttime..back in my insomina days)

Must of the shamppo and soap makers will send a sample. I had bottles and bottles of products I had bought and couldn't use. :(

Even makeup samples. Something I still have problems with.
