When you said whisker, you reminded me of something.
*Whispers* I have a whisker growing out of a mole on my neck! |

Hugs to all menopausal women everywhere.
First of all, make sure that you check in with your doctor, optometrist and dentist. There are health problems that can start to appear with menopause and you want to get an early handle on them, or better yet avoid them altogether. Exercise and proper nutrition can be a big help with the changes you will be going thru. There are lots of sites on the web that will talk about how to control the side effects without medication BUT take the meds if you need them. There is no sense in being miserable, uncomfortable and an emotional basket case. I found that Vit E and ginseng were very helpful with the hot flashes. ( Women who are diabetic or taking high blood pressure medication or with rheumatic heart conditions should take vitamin E under a doctor's supervision ). Most women have to experiment with different herbs and supplements to find what works for them. Soy is also reputed to be a big help. There are often changes with our body hair too. Some women will have more facial hair...peach fuzz. Some, like me, will have less hair on their heads but more on their upper lips and chin not to mention longer hair in their nose. I'm one of the "lucky" ones that now has a daily facial hair regimen...oh goody! (It's a joke that the hair on the top of my head is sinking into my nose...now there's a picture) The emotional side of menopause....what can I say. If you notice your family seems to be avoiding you or if they mention how "touchy" you seem to be lately, listen to them. I had no idea how bad I was until friends became brave enough AFTER I was returning to normal to tease and joke about my "bad years" . Be gentle with yourself, try to relax and take the time YOU need to deal with this change. I rejoice in the freedom from my monthly "mess" and expense. Use the extra money to buy yourself a gift or treat. It is common for some women to have lubrication problems when they engage in sex. There are many new options out there...another reason to talk to your doctor or gyn. Many woman find this a liberating experience, and a time of renewed sexual awakening. Go for it if this is you! Just remember that every woman goes thru this and most survive If you can find forums for menopausal women check them out for other helpful info. |
