http://www.betterbones.com/category/pH-and-Bone.aspx It is important to keep in mind that some drugs used by people with chronic illnesses actually cause acidosis and/or bone loss. These two cause metabolic acidosis: Topamax Metformin (Glucophage) And diuretics typically deplete potassium and magnesium. Steroids deplete potassium. Steroids in general cause osteoporosis or bone loss. Anticonvulsants cause osteopenia/osteoporosis. Low Vit D levels Low B12 levels Low Vit K levels... all 3 implicated in bone loss. Bones are complicated!
