Default Why would my doctor ask me this?

During my physical today, I was asked if I had intercourse on my period.

I told her 'no', and she mumbled something about girls having sex while menstruating and infections going around etc.

I didn't understand why she'd ask the question, and she wasn't very forthcoming with information. Possibly because I had answered 'no'.

Any ideas? She's aware I'm in a monogamous relationship as well.
