We're leaving early this next week to go and pick up mom. We will be back before Chris's college graduation on Sunday. Mom was released from rehab today and is staying with her friends for the weekend. She'll work on getting her stuff together at the apartment before we get there.
Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers for mom. You may want to send a few my way since she's moving in with Jim and I. hahahahaha Just kidding. Wish us luck!

Have a safe trip, Sandy. You're one special person for inviting your Mom to come live with you. Lots of people wouldn't take on that kind of responsibility. I admire you and Jim for opening your home. I know it's for family but even so.....many people wouldn't do it.
Take care of yourself, too. It's easy to overdo it and then pay for it later (I know about these things! ). You've got lots of prayers and good thoughts behind you. Have a good trip!

Mom does well and can do everything for herself. We are just a shadow to remind her to take her meds, to eat better and help her balance the checkbook. It will be an adjustment for all of us but I think overall it will be OK. She'll probably still have seizures but hopefully we can get them under control to where they don't come as often and as severe. Her rehab went very well and she's using a cane now instead of a wheelchair or walker.
I already had "the talk" with her about what is expected from both sides. We also talked about the possibility that she will get to a point where I cannot take care of her and Jim at the same time. She said she would want me to place her in a home. She's very independent in that way and understands my position. It will be an adjustment for sure. I have her brother and her oldest "ghost" son up here plus my two boys for support. Now, let's talk about the positives of her being here. I don't have to try and fix things 600 miles away. I can be right there when anything happens. Let me tell you, being so far away is far worse than having her up here.

You raise a good point, Sandy...it is very difficult to deal with issues so far away.Just take care of yourself...I know from experience how easy it is to burn out taking care of elderly family...Have a safe trip...
