Default PCS 16years old, downfall.

I had a concussion in mid December. got slammed from behind against a locker. hit the back of my head first. got up right away, went to the gym after. felt dizzy, light headed, weird, headache for about a day in a half. Took a couple days off from the gym then Continued lifting heavy 3x a week. No cardio.

A month later ( mid/end of January )after a workout, i felt the concussion symptoms again. i started feeling light headed, dizzy, nausea, headache, black spots in vision. First 2 weeks were brutal. migraine that was very painful on about an 8 on a 10 scale. No appetite, trouble sleeping on the 2nd week.

Since then my migraine/headache isn't so bad but i still feel a pain in the back of the right side of my head, some pain on the right side of my neck, and still feel light headed, dizzy but it's gotten in the way of everything, but still very annoying. now since last night. feb 18, i felt numbness through two of my left fingers and progressed through the whole left side of my body? don't know what the hell is going on ive done an mri, blood work when the symptoms first started and everythings normal. i just want my black spots in my vision to go away and not feel light headed/dizzy anymore, and being able to sleep. its all a complete nightmare. I do panic sometimes. Lifting was all I had in my life. Lost 16 lbs. I just want to lift again, and feel good about my self.

innocents,

Any time you have spots in your vision, you should be checked out at the emergency room. An ophthalmologist should give your eyes a thorough exam. As Jo*mar said, an upper cervical assessment may be worthwhile. There are some physical therapists who are good at upper cervical work. They often advertise as spine and neck specialists.

It is not uncommon for the MRI to be normal even when you have serious concussion injuries to your brain.

You need a good thorough work-up by someone who understands concussion, whiplash, and such. There are nerves in your lower neck that can cause the numbness. These can be irritated by a whiplash like injury.

I wish we could help you more but you need some specialized quality medical care.

My best to you as you look for medical help.

Forgot to add I have had my eyes checked they are fine and there are no diseases but I did get new glasses. I told my parents last night about the numbness and they say its because im depressed/anxiety. its really frustrating. I told them to please take me to the ER, they say they wont do anything. No one understands me.

It is sad that your parents have blamed your numbness on depression/anxiety. What makes that worse is that depression is a very good reason to be evaluated. I struggled with depression after my concussion at your age. Depression and concussion are a bad mix.

Talk with your school counselor about how you are doing. Please be very open about any feeling of depression, etc. Explain your concussion symptoms etc.

Did you ever report your event to the school administration? If not, you should. It needs to be on the record for your safety and future health concerns.

There is a specialty called neuro-ophthalmology. They have a better understanding of the interaction between the injured brain and the eyes. Do a google for neuro-ophthalmologist for your local area. You could then inquire of that doctors office about your symptoms. The doctors office may be able to leverage your parents for an assessment.

Hope this helps.

My best to you.

Thanks Mark, ill try and convince my parents but it's aggravating that they don't get what im going through. ill convince them to bring me to a neuro-ophthalmologist. my dad thinks it's physical depression and he says its the whole cause of these problems. maybe the numbness on my left side but i know its not the whole problem. its PCS.

Wondering how long did your PCS last?
