I think a few have had a similar problem like that.
Hopefully they can reply also.

Nice to meet you.

Post Hi

Hi Bigpede

Sorry that you find yourself on the forum. I also have a paralysed left hemi diaphragm and partially paralysed right hemi-diaphragm. Mine is not believed to be in as a result of surgery. Have you had phrenic nerve testing? The reason I ask is that hopefully it may be just bruising to phrenic nerve and that it may recover. Some times, it can take take some months for bruised phrenic nerve to recover. I am only speaking in simplistic terms.
I hope that you are experiencing too many symptoms. I know that many people live quite normally unaware that they have hemidiaphragm elevation.

I hope your surgery went well and that you have a good recovery and symptom abatement.
Best wishes,
H. x.

Hi Pete,

Welcome. I sure hope your recovery is comfortable and speedy.

Where did you have your surgery?

I had mine 5 months ago. Looking back before the surgery I often felt like I had some phrenic nerves issues.

Phrenic nerve testing....hmmmmmm..writing that one down for the neuro

Hi Shelley, Thanks for your words of encouragement. I had My surgery done in Pittsburg Pa. I had a pulmonary function test done about 4 months before surgery, but no nerve test on phrenic however back then i didnt have any problem with my diaphram. I am going to get a referal to a neurologist, hopefully.hope all is well with you. Bigpede

Hiya Bigpede-
I am originally from Johnstown, PA and have lots of family in Pittsburgh. As you can see in my profile I am in Sunny SoCal now so I don't get back much. Interested to know which doctors you saw? You can PM me if you don't want to post.

Welcome to the forum from another western PA'er.

I have met one other with a phrenic nerve injury during in my TOS travels, I am sorry and hope that the long term impact is minimized for you.

Johanna
