Fred's death is bothering me and there has been many who have said "you don't die of Parkinsons Disease". Well it is not true and in the Als forum Bobby B has a "remembrance" column of those who have died from that disease.
Lets start one here and add to it each and every human being that has or will die of Parkinson's. Let the world know they are wrong. We can start with Fred's obituary and remember those who have fought the fight. Kimmydawn can you start this for us and we will add as we find them if the members here agree.. It's time |

Thelma,
I like the idea of a "Remembrance" thread. There are others I know of who aren't active in this group but who have died of PD or complications. Could those people be included as well? -J |

I think this is an important thing to do.

This is important for us all here and now and for those who have fought and gone - members of this group or not.

Bill Pough, whose caretaker Googyuk (forum name) used to post. Bella, caretaker of Fabian (don't know last names), who died of end stage. And a woman who Tena knew better than most, whose name i will not reveal, because i believe that she suicided. And of course our most recent young PD victim, whom I will only reveal as 'Lil Spud. There was also one fella , who quite recently passed on, whose handle I forget now.
THat's about all that I'm aware of around here that have passed on as in died, but there have been many others such as Larry J, John G, to name only a couple (because my memory is fading, but i still think of them) who have completely quit posting. What we need is a way of finding the names of those who have passed away from PD in institutions, as well as under private care. This might not be easy, but like AIDS victims, I'm sure that we could make quite a big quilt with their names on each patch. A great idea Thelma , one that would surely raise public awareness. There are so many people whose lives have been touched by PD, and my opinion is that it affected them so powerfully, that many of them just want to put the passing of a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, etc., from advanced PD, out of their minds, but would still like their loved ones recorded for posterity and to aid in the fight for prevention and cure of PD. |

I continue to believe we need a national and international registry for parkinson's (is that not one of the perks of globalization?). I think (because of HIPPA rules) a law passed by congress would be required--anyone up for the undertaking? I am embroiled in another battle at present, and unable to take on something else....madelyn

to ad to cs' post....googyuk' husband passed away - but she had a friend named Bruce too, who was a regular and passed away. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, just adding detail to Bella's husband Fabs death..he was advanced but not end stage. He choked to death. Parkinson's kills before you expect it to also. Paula
