Default Please don't forget Murray Charters

Although Murray died of Cancer, he did so much for the Parkinson cause. His website had so much information. He was an International Figure for Parkinson's research.

Default Yes!

I think an "in Memory of" or "in Memorium" thread would be appropriate and appreciated by the families etc. If they struggled with PD, even if they passed away from something else, the PD laid the ground work for a battle that would be hard won just so they could go on fighting PD. It's what we do with our lives that counts, and anyone who contributed to the quality of anothers life thru PD deserves to be recognized by the community.

Well 439 read it and only 11 caring people responded.

What does that say?

To me it is a no go. Sad commentary on what could of been and where it could have gone.

Oh well

Updated-- I can make a "Remembrance" thread and sticky it for you.
If most are interested??

You could also use it for members you have lost touch with- not necessarily passed on - but those you remember and just have lost touch with??

Post In Memory of those that have passed on

by all means set aside a memorial site - don't let a poor response deter you
from honoring those who contributed to the PD cause. I haven't had the pleasure of knowing Fred,Murray, Bill but they obviously made an impression.

Tell us about them

Default We do care!

It's not because folks don't care. I didn't respond becasue I was waiting for the sticky or for y'all to come to some decision but I agree we need something. We've had 3 funerals within the past couple of months in our little group alone!

Folks would probably participate but many who read here are participating as best they can. Not all have the ability to type out notes I suspect.
Are we supposed to attach funeral notices to the sticky? Just tell us what you think is best........

There is a concern of personal privacy I would think.
If we go forward with it, I would suggest getting permission from the family before posting much personal or detailed information.

It is already being done in the Als forum by one man in a motorized wheelchair who can only copy and post and he takes from all papers and personal emails and whatever is required to make it known to the public that Als is uncurable and there is no medication available as yet.

He is a living symbol from which to base what I have suggested for it to one day bear a relationship to the need for a registry of the fact people are and do die from parkinsons.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=7437

This is to me a serious fact that the general public not only don't know about the disease but are under the illusion that you can live a long productive life with it.

Sure it is not a type of posting that all would want to read over and over but it is a way to bring out my original fact, Parkinson's kills.

Each and every member who would like to put in an obituary may do so but I really hope there will be a serious side to it and not added to in a manner to make it frivolous thing.

Only obituaries...........no keeping up on members and friends we have a posting here to do that run by Steve.

Hopefully this will fly and eventually be an asset to all the groups as well as this one and this site in general.

Check the Als and then let us know what you think. For me a poll of yes and no just doesn't do it.

then if the decision is affirmative and we know what we want and need we can go to John and be specific as to our request.

Okay now what do you think can it fly

If we are posting obits - they have already appeared in print and are available in archives so I would not think that would be a problem.......
